    CO2 Manifold Question

Yep, I get that white cloud too. It's normal. I read some huge thread a while back about what causes it, sort of understood and the bottom line is it's normal. I believe it has to do with the sudden change in pressure. I know when I used to play paintball you could see a little puff of white...

Making My First Cider, Would Like Some Advice

You can do different things, add sugar to kick up the gravity, flavor it, etc. Whatever you do will come out well, but have a plan to carbonate it unless you want it flat. If you keg it's easy. If you want it very dry but carbonated, also easy. But if you want to back sweeten it you'd have...

pitching on top of a yeast cake

I've repitched wort on top of a cake, no problem. I use glass fermenters, and the 2 times I've done this I just move my beer into a keg and leave maybe .5 inches of beer on the yeast. Then the next day (brew day) I just put the wort into the fermenter. I don't clean the fermenter out (I spray...

    CO2 Manifold Question

Did you bleed the air out of the line that goes to the keg? My gauge will only go to zero if I turn my tank off and then let the air out of the line.

Great deal, 100qt kettle $75 shipped to NH

No problem. I was excited to get my 20.5 gallon kettle for $140 over a year ago, so when I saw this I thought "too good to be true" but gave it a shot. I figured if it was some kind of scam I'm using a credit card, I can get the charges reversed. But I ordered, and 1 week later boom, it's great.

    Uncrushed Grain

With a very poor crush (which I would guess is no crush) I would expect to have a lower OG, a little less color, and a little less flavor from that grain. It certainly won't ruin it. It's probably like adding half or less of that grain would be my guess.

Great deal, 100qt kettle $75 shipped to NH

I stumbled upon this thread recently: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/80-quart-stainless-kettle-lid-55-plus-shipping-411304/ and found that for $75 shipped to NH I could get a 100qt stainless kettle shipped. I split it 3 ways with 2 friends and 1 week later I got it. Just wanted to pass on...

Looking for some suggestions for a Scottish ale.

Assuming you are doing AG, take a look at higher pre-boil volumes and boiling down to get a more 'syrup' feel. I'm a big scottish fan myself. Also, be careful with putting in smoked malts. My understanding is most scottish don't have any, but it's an easier way to mimic the scottish flavor...

Can I pitch again to save a batch???

Take a hydrometer reading of a bottle of water, it should read just about 0 (I think? I'm sure somebody will correct me if that's wrong).

    Manifold vs Secondary Regulator?

I did both :) having 2 regulators is great. You can do things like force carb cider or soda on one (or quickly force carb up a beer) and keep your manifold for your other beers on tap at 10psi.

    no blow off tube

Yep sure can. If you are nervous about it just sanitize some tin foil and slap it on there when you yank it off to clean it.

Help With One of My Beer Lines - Please!!!

Depending on when you kegged it could have still been ferementing. I secondary in a keg sometimes and a day or two before I put it in the fridge I'll de-gas it a bit. From what you've said it just sounds like one keg is at higher pressure.

Can I pitch again to save a batch???

What's the gravity now? Sometimes my airlock will only bubble for a few days, gravity is really the only way to tell what's going on. I'd be shocked if 1oz of vodka did anything to the yeast. You can re-pitch if you want though, it won't hurt anything.

I'm looking for a good Grain Mill...?

People and businesses make 'bad' choices all the time. Know somebody that smokes? Yes/No? How about drinks? Just saying. If you like the crush that comes from one of your LHBS, that might be the mill to get. I know for me that helped me choose.

    Strong Bitter Fuller's ESB Clone

I'm sure it will turn out great. I'm a big EKG fan. My ferm temp is greatly chosen by my basement and time of year. I've made this beer many times and found that Marris Otter is the base malt of choice for me (I like a bigger body and a little darker).

Where to fill a 5lb CO2 tank in NH

I just do swaps. I was all hot on the idea of "I have a brand new tank I want to keep and fill it" but a fill was the same price as a swap. And if you swap the date stamp doesn't matter, they will always take it. Also I got a swapped tank that leaked out of the handle when I turned it on...

Same boat for me. I love mine. I really feel the gear driven makes a big difference.

IIPA No Carbonation - Need Advice!

I made a barley wine that clocked at 9% 18 months ago. After a month, nothing, I had the same concern. I moved my 2 cases to the 2nd floor of my house where the temp was a little warmer (68 I'd guess? basement was about 50) and 2 weeks later I had a little carbonation. It took 3 months total...

    How safe is hose water?

I have an all rubber hose from Sears. I would think that would be pretty safe as long as I run some water through it?
