    hehe, L.A. is close enough for a quick trip at least down to Oceanside. I smoke cigars so I'm used to having a never ending spending habit.     Dan, Thank You for the great info. The more I read the more overwhelmed I feel, lol. I guess she feels this will be much cheaper but a colleague already recommended $300 in upgrades (ranco temp monitor and kettle with spout and temperate gauge). She really has no idea what's coming her way. :-)

    Thanks for the welcome. I am in a good location but that's what has kept me from brewing myself since I can get some really good beers very easily. I'll make sure to check out White Labs. I think I've heard of them, and possibly seen them.
