Thread seal on element base or not

Thanks, common senses made me lean that way but after wiring up the panel and rechecking everything a few times, the brain was hurting a bit and mr Google wasn't turning up an answer fast enough

Thread seal on element base or not

Rookie question, but since the camco base has a rubber gasket should I apply pipe thread seal tape as well? The seal tape was a little wide so I trimmed some off but are elements sealed by compression (gasket) or interference (tape) or both?

    Electric Brewing - Ventilation

Oh and don't forget to determine if you need makeup air with your ventilation system. This whole process was a little daunting at first but after a little reading I stumbled upon this webpage that has a worksheet you fill in values to and determine if makeup air is needed. It is for Minnesota...

    Electric Brewing - Ventilation

Im going to follow this simple design when I order the parts in a few days. I don't have any experience with this setup but it seems cost effective and straight forward. Unlike the 4" inline fane used in the post, I'll be buying a 6" ventech fan (hrydrofarm rated and 400 cfm at its peak) for...

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

Nope, still using the smaller coil that I've read that other members have some "rate of exchange" issues with but I'm going to see how it works for me before changing things up. This was a sticking point during my research stage but love everything else Stout has to offer so I figured it's...

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

No brewery yet, just a larger scale homebrew system that could be used as a pilot one day if my wife and I venture down that path in a year or two. For the time being its just our version of a "dream" system... That is until we find our next dream system 🍻

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

After ordering my kettles last March and expecting to be fully operational for when they arrived in August, learning of and planning for the arrival of my baby boy (Finnley Kolsch... Can you tell my wife and I are beer fans???) chewed up build time and funding for the better part of the past...

If you had to start all over. How would you?

Since you have been brewing already, you've already got the "bug" so my advice is to spend the money once and enjoy the brewing process. I'm cheap by nature and that translated into my brewing, at the beginning, and I pieced together my first all grain gas fired system with whatever I could...

    Simple yeast starter question

Just for curiosity sake, and not scientific at all, I used the ratio for the post boil volume for a starter I made yesterday. The yeast were washed from a washed Belgian wit slurry that has been in my fridge for about 7 months. I used a stir plate as usual, and made a 1500 ml post boil volume...

    Simple yeast starter question

After a year of all-grain batches, 26 total and 26 successful yeast starters from either a slurry or fresh liquid (store bought) yeast I had a "wait a minute moment" I follow the 1g:10ml ratio and have always added DME for pre-boil starter volumes. My question is though, should I account for...
