    Super Simple 15G Plastic Conical

Finally joining the party after a few wks of lurking and planning! Ordered one 15 gal (infd15-19) tank, nipple, 2 banjo valves (1.5" and 0.5"), female banjo cam with male threading, and banjo cam coupler with female threading. I'll be attaching a homemade yeast catcher to the cam coupler...

    Electric Brewing Supply reviews

I haven't ordered anything from them, but after building my first 30 amp panel and starting to plan out a 50 amp panel, I wanted to see how their DIY kit price stacked up to eBay and Amazon items in a side by side part list order. I priced out the 50 amp 3 PID complete kit and was blown away at...

    Instructables Beer Brewing System Question

I've got a 3 vessel eHERMS setup that uses one of PJs single Pid single 5500 watt element 30 amp diagrams. I like the added security of having to swap out the element power cord when switching from the HLT to the BK. A simple selector switch for the operating element would have worked as well...

Farmhouse Ale Blend (wlp670) - new equipment?

Thanks for the input guys. I was actually planning on an 11 gal batch using my new plastic conical that's on its way but after second thought, I'm just going to split the batch into two bucket fermenters and mark them all "Brett" as Brett since I can't remember which one I used last. I really...

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

Do you have the fan up against the hood or down line a bit? I was thinking of putting the fan against the hood to push as much steam through as possible so it has less of a chance condense. I was thinking of removing a screw on the housing and placing a drip tube on it to direct water away and...

Farmhouse Ale Blend (wlp670) - new equipment?

So I used the farmhouse blend in a saison that I only fermented for a total of about 5-6 weeks and never thought about the Brett yeast contaminating the equipment. Since its a blend of farmhouse yeast and Brett, should that equipment (fermenter, bottling bucket, tubing, auto siphon) be...

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

The shorter kettle (seen on the right in post #9) is the 20 gal HLT. Both the BK and MT are raised to accommodate the domed bottom of the BK and bottom outlet on the MT. The dome will help with trub collection after whirl pooling and the bottom outlet helps minimize losses after mashing. If...

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

So after a week or so of dry fitting the pvc element enclosures I put together and configuring a way to ground the kettles with the DIY enclosures, I went another direction as it just didn't look right on the kettles. I'm sure the pvc would have been functional but the SS enclosures from BH...

    12" SS domed false bottom - $35

I have a 12" FB that I used in a 10 gal Igloo cooler that is no longer needed. Located in Northeast PA.

Peanuts in a randall vs head retention?

The PB2 works well since it has been crushed and pressed to remove most of the oil, but crushing regular peanuts and running the beer over will probably extract many of the oils that have not been pressed out like PB2. Since peanut oil has a density slightly less than water and beer, it will...

    Facelift for my control panel

That's incredible! Easy to CIP when flushing the system with PBW / hot or cold water?

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

The jacket is there to dampen the noise from the fan but with it on or off (I took it off when adding the mounting bracket), there isn't a noticeable difference. You can easily talk over the fan and I'd say it's decibel rating would be equivalent to a cheapo box fan on high.

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

After ordering and receiving an inline fan last week that wouldn't spin, the seller sent out a replacement immediately and it arrived today. It's a 6" Ventech inline fan that's rated for around 400cfm. I'll be attaching it to a Rubbermaid rectangular tub that will be my exhaust hood and then...

    PVC Aeration Wand For Drill

While sitting around this morning and reading a bit more on the electricbrewery site I came across aeration wands that can be used with drills. Any reason why a PVC tube, t fitting on one end (with 2" extensions off the bottom t), and a drill bit JB welded onto the opposite end wouldn't work...

    Thermowell Oil?

I know you don't want to buy new temp sensors but I had Auber make a custom temp probe sensor setup that had an exposed sensor tip and was attached to 1/2" MPT so that I could secure the sensor in my Stout kettles. Here's a link to the product they now offer...

    Facelift for my control panel

Did you repurpose the mash tun cooler from the older setup as your cooling tank reservoir? I've been looking into the cool jacket setup and I like what I see. Are you using one jacket for your conical or two? I was leaning towards the 15 gal induction tanks but that desktop ornament really...

20 gal 3 Vessel Stout Kettles eHERMs Basement Build

Some updated pics of the system. I was able to complete the brew stand and decided against mounting the pumps and chiller on the stand. I happen to have an extra cart available that I used to move hot kettles when brewing outside that I was able to repurpose into a control panel/pump/chiller...

What's your best DIY brew gadget?

Here's my sparge arm that I made from some leftover PEX tubing. I place a hose clamp in the middle and slide it in a slotted piece of wood that sits across the mash tun to adjust height above grain bed
