    going smaller

Is there a particular (or common) reason for you saying your beer is mediocre? (And is it all your batches?) A lot of homebrew I have tasted is as good a quality as commercial offerings (or really really really bad :D). As for advice have you thought about dry yeast? This will take one variabe...

Looking to setup and not have to move hoses for all grain setup

Just to through it out there, generally a tee, 2 nipples and 2 standard ball valves is usually around the same price (or a few $ cheaper) and gives you more flexibility with where you want to pump from/to :) - just for thoughts

    Pump question and head height

Just had a look at the ebay listing you linked to and couldn't find reference to supply vaoltage being 12-24Vdc, only 12Vdc. In other auctions which state 12-24Vdc they normal require you to select which model you want - either 12Vdc or 24Vdc. I know you say you know what you are doing but just...

working on an electric brewery, simple wiring question

Not a troll at all - you (and mredge) were right (I'm going to say my head was not in the right space when figuring out if they would blow up or just restrict the flow of electrons).

    New Tri-clover arrive scratched

And plus usually they are the same valves, fittings anyway just with a middleman in the US (or where you are) which gives you a bit of reassurance that if it is damaged beyond usuability on arrival the return process may be easier... although saying that normally the Ebay/Aliexpress sellers are...

working on an electric brewery, simple wiring question

Correct me if I am wrong but I read the OP as meaning in series with the load. Either way mredge is correct on the wiring. If the lights were in series with the load they would blow as the current drawn by the load would be much more than the light could handle.

    Tri Clamp End Cap

Agree, it is a DIN/RJT screw type sanitary fitting. Definately will not fit a Triclover fitting. In the case of your photo that is not a Triclover valve :)

We introduce you to the Amazing Homebrew Competition

I was wondering if South Korea had insanely restrictive alcohol laws / prohibition... turns out it is completely the opposite! http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/features/2016/02/country-world-worst-drink-problem-160202120308308.html

Was it from 90210? So why is someone in South Korea signed up with the American Homebrew Association?

    I'm F'in done with SSR's

Also knowing the limitations of the products helps to prevent some hurt. A lot if the issue with the knock off FOTEKs I have seen documented is the design used multiple lower rated components in parallel, e.g. 2× 20A TRIACs for a 40A SSR with no control to ensure the current is split equally...

    I'm F'in done with SSR's

If you bought that exact SSR in the link as the other one you have tried the reason that it does not work (Control light not lighting up) is it has a 150-350 VAC input not a extra low voltage DC input that your PID is outputting.

Question for the electricians--ok to run a 3-wire power cable from a 4-wire outlet?

That sounds a bit suspect - after all most factories only have a single feed coming into their buildings so it is going to be on the same feeder circuit from some point. And motor / element is not the same a 240 / 120. I can understand separating the circuit protection for inductive/resistive...

Did I score at the habitat re-store?

or it is probably just a standard 1" NPT thread. Outside diameter of a 1" NPT is 1.315" (i.e. pretty close to 1 3/8" especially if you are measuring with a ruler/tape measure :)

Teeing MLT and BK outlets together

The concern is "deadlegs" in the piping, if there is only a short distance of any leg of the system, e.g. a tee, then the flow of liquid through that part will draw and mix any liquid trapped in the short deadleg. If the deadleg is long then there will not be any mixing of the entire deadleg...

Question for the electricians--ok to run a 3-wire power cable from a 4-wire outlet?

It sounds like they sell a unit with a single power feed with a hot, hot, neutral, earth plug that is non-UL, as well as the UL separate 240 / 120 plug version. What is weird is their claim that they can not get UL if they use a single plug for both 240 and 120. I don't know if that is true but...

    Peltier cooling of SSR

Why? It will just end up with a bigger heat sink to cool both the SSR heat and the additional heat the peltier will add to the system. Besides there is no need for the SSR to be cold, just not overly hot.

Authentic small batch product (a way to fight macro craft)?

Why? What is the issue with "big beer" owning craft brewery (brands) if the quality stays the same? If it drops people will stop drinking that beer and move on to something better. Breweries being bought by BMC is not really the issue - it is a way for BMC to maintain market share. One brewer...

    Glyphosate Free Beer / Grains

I agree it is a bit hypocritical to call something propaganda when the information provided is blantant propaganda to press the agenda of the "experts" involved :D
