Dried Malt Extract, can you taste it?

I know exactly what you mean here. When I brew extract, versus all-grain, my beers turn out slightly darker, and perceptibly sweeter and more malty. Let me start off saying, I'm not on the whole beer-snobbery bandwagon of extract brewing being inferior. It's not. I love my extract...

    Kegging, temperature, and psi

I like this calculator a lot, thank you sir for the share! Thanks all for your help! I decided to lower my temp and next beer I serve use the suggestions given here to get a proper balanced system. I am super excited to serve a perfectly carbed beer for (likely) the first time in my hobby:mug:

    Kegging, temperature, and psi

Hey all, I have been having some problems properly dispensing my beer. I decided to raise my keezer temp to 50.F, which is the right serving temp for the style of ale I am serving. According to the beer carbonation table, I decided 20 psi would be the correct pressure to accommodate the...

What to add to Brown Ale

Have you brewed this beer before? Just curious why you want to add something to it. Did it not turn out as well last time?

Amazed at the excellence! - Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout

They have an Imperial Stout that is just unreal. I haven't seen it in the store recently, but when I do I might just blow some money on getting like 5 or 6 of them. Yum... and knocks you on your ass too. No wonder why the Russian Imperial Court loved this style so much!

Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale Yeast Too Thin?

That actually makes a lot of sense. I still am curious about Irish Ale yeast and what makes it different. Not a whole lot of info on it out there

Amazed at the excellence! - Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout

This is my favorite beer. Too bad I can not find a clone of it that is decent. Guess I will have to experiment and come up with my own clone!:rockin:

Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale Yeast Too Thin?

I recently made an Oatmeal Stout. I used the Clone Brews recipe and followed it exactly, and noticed that it produced a watery beer with little to no mouthfeel or matlyness. Could the yeast just have fermented too much of the sugars? Is that typical for an Irish style ale yeast? Thanks for...

What to add to Brown Ale

I've heard the same. Same with honey. Honey is virtually 100% fermentable, except for the aroma and some very mild flavors. If you add a pound of honey, expect to age it for a month before the heavy alcohols and odd flavors drop out. Any more than that, and you looking at like 6 months...

Closest clone to Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout?

I agree. I brewed this clone exactly as it was described. It is the second worst beer I have ever made. No flavor, and a brown color. Brown does NOT equal stout. I was very disappointed. The first time I used this clone, I added extra chocolate malt, and I used 3 pounds light DME, and 3 pounds...
