Worst Hangover EVER after TWO beers - WHY??? (Founders Brewing Company)

I like that QC stopped by for a visit. That was nice. Thanks for the science lesson. Note not a response to the fusel question/thread. As an update, the situation has improved if only slightly at Founders. My thinking is that it's the yeast adjusting to different sized fermenters. I don't get...

    Oops what to do now?!

Just dug this up and for the record, this cider was incredible while it was young. It had all of the complexity of a good Belgian beer, actually reminded me of a wit quite a bit. I'm going to be trying this with 10 or so gallons this fall, and I did wash the yeast from this batch. Spontaneous...

    fliptops good? or no good?

I'll generally save my flip tops for making a quick sixer for the night using the Blichmann beer gun. Great use. Never tried doing long term storage although if the rubber is good enough I don't see a problem with it. As a general rule I'd say drink em sooner rather than later.

slots or holes for mash tun manifold?

I have a copper manifold with slots I made using a dremel. I'm very happy with the slots, I spaced them about 1/2" apart and also get 78% +/- 2% efficiency. Never had a stuck sparge or clarity issues.

    Is my cider gluten free?

All of your ingredients are gluten free as far as I can see - Red Star claims that all of their yeast is gluten free and fruit juices do not contain gluten. Gluten is generally found in cereal grains (barley, wheat, etc). Not all yeast claims to be 100% gluten free. If your friend is truly...

    Wheat beer fermentation.

Washed yeast or purchased? I just did a batch of IPA with washed 001 and it took almost 72 hours to take off, and never really went crazy. Got down to 1.010 though. Don't worry about it.

DFH's Blood Orange Hefe- Gluten Free Style

I brewed this up 16 days ago and am bottling tomorrow. Went from 1.051 all the way down to 1.004, which I was a little surprised by but this is my first GF batch. Sample tasted pretty damn good, overall pretty pleased with my first GF beer and my wife's hopes have been raised considerably...

    Getting out of the kitchen

You could do some testing to see exactly how great the heat is in your setup. However, I think the best advice would be to just err on the side of caution. The thought of a malfunction in the order of starting the table on fire that is supporting a propane burner and maybe 6+ gallons of boiling...

Frame for a KAB6 Banjo Burner

I'm not sure you're gonna find them out commercially, best to hope you can find someone that took their burner and mounted it into a stand or something. It's the bulk of what they charge for in the KAB6, the same burner (BG-14) is $30 but you can't find that KAB6 with that beefy stand for less...

    These are my brewing confessions

It's been a kind of rough beginning this year, lots of new equipment getting thrown into the mix and lots of other activities going on in a whirlwind. My focus has been on far too many things, and one thing I've always loved about brewing is that it becomes a very Zen experience for me, allowing...

    10 tip jet burners

I had a hard time finding these for a long time, now I see they are available again: http://www.cajun-outdoor-cooking.com/618lp-cajun-classic-super-hot-propane-multi-jet-burner-10-jets.htm Are these suitable? I guess what I really need to know is if low pressure will work on my Brutus, or...
