So sick of bottles, how cheap can i keg?

Can I ask why you are tired of bottling? I know I will get a lot of heat for saying that, but there are some good threads out there about bottling that make it much easier. I don't keg, and don't plan on it any time soon. I want to wait for to get a proper kegging setup before I make the...

Possibly the best beer I've ever had!

Agreed. Some of their stuff is a little out there for me. I do like them as a brewery though.

    Alabama vote.

I live in Pensacola, Fl now but am originally from Alabama. This whole thing encouraged me to actually become a paid member of Free the Hops the other day. I do want to say that some of the best homebrew we have at the Pensacola beerfest every year is from the Alabama and Mississippi...

    IBUs

Anything around 100 ibus is hard to achieve. I would stay where you are in beer smith, giving you have an appropriate starting gravity.

bubbles with starsan, should I rinse?

Iodophor sanitizer doesn't foam but does stain. I used it for about a year and am now using star san. I agree I don't like the bubbles so I'll probably move back to Iodophor. Really no difference other than foam vs stain.

    What is this brew?

Beersmith has a Mac version and a 21 day free trial. The beer sounds like it would turn out to be a low alcohol American amber. A good lawn mower beer.

    Show us your Kegerator

It's has been done with the freezer being the kegorator and the fridge being a fermentation fridge. On side by sides the freezer portion sends air to the fridge portion, so the fridge side will always be warmer than the freezer side.

I used too much mash water... am I screwed?

I tend to go that thin every time I brew. Don't really think there is a problem with it or at least I haven't noticed any.

Looking for help doing my first AG via BIAB with a SMaSH recipe in a 30 qt pot

A smash recipe is single malt and single hop. A brown ale is going to need a base grain like 2 row and some specialty malts ( chocolate, crystal,...). If you want to do a smash then try a pale ale or light ale that uses all 2 row and a single hop. If you want to do a brown ale find a recipe...

    Priming vs Force Carbing

Force carbing is different than pushing with co2.

    Pale Ale Hopping.

Gordon also talks about it in his book brewing better beer. Jamil also has no boil hops in his evil twin for heretic brewing. Just a ton of hops at flameout. Sounds like a good idea to me.

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

I would go 2.5 for it and put in regular 12 oz bottles. Any higher and you will have a chance of exploding bottles. If you want to do higher use some 22 oz that some Belgians come in. Sent from my iPhone using HB Talk

Huge Stir Plate -Aerate 6 Gallon Batch??

I'd be interested to see how well it moves wort compared to the water. I know my homemade computer fan stir plate acts differently with 1.040 wort vs tap water. Sent from my iPhone using HB Talk

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

It is. I use it only for the boil kettle and it works great. I would highly recommend it.

    sparge arm?

I made a simple one out of cpvc and some hi temp tubing. Works great if you dont want to mess with copper. Just throwing that out there....

I built a cpvc manifold and it works great. Check the wiki on here for a guide to build one.

    First AG Recipe Help

Gotcha. I also didn't notice it was only crystal 10. That is probably about right for a blonde. I use 40 or 60 for my APAs or IPAs. One more thing. I question whether you need the dry hops in there. For the style, I dont think they are needed unless you just want to. I would wait and save...

    Skunking while transferring to secondary

Agreed. Dont worry about it happening that fast. I do it outside or inside and have never had a problem. I hope this thread doesn't spark another debate about using secondaries.....

    First AG Recipe Help

This sounds closer to a pale ale recipe to me, but I am not really sure what a golden ale is. I have made some pale ales and IPAs with all centennial and they turned out great. Creating your own recipes is a lot of fun and in my opinion makes brewing more fun. I cant wait to hear how it...
