    Cheapest source of corn?

--------- Check out MaltBuyTheBag's web site for what appears to be good pricing. I've saved a link to his site and may buy from him when time to restock. Shipping costs ($18/bag) to me almost, but not quite , spoil the deal. I usually drive 30-miles round trip, pay $39/2-row...

How long does your brew day take?

6 to 7 hours for an 11-gallon "biab". I usually undertake racking the primary into 2 cornies to make room for the brew day brew.

How do you clean your element?

-------------- Try this: Line the bottom of the pot with plastic or plastic wrap. Liberally spray the element with extra stong oven cleaner (might want to wear a respirator). Fold the plastic wrap up over and tight against the element. Let sit for 24-hours. Remove plastic wrap, scrub while...

Beer ingredient kits on-line vs. local store

Everyone has good points. My nearby local stocks old yeast and hops and their hardware and _some_ ingredient prices are sky high. Selection is limited. They quoted $75 for a 55# sack of Maris Otter and I'd have to wait for them to get it. They also sell used corny kegs sell for...

    Nyln grain bags

Yes, wash on "gentle" and reuse. They may eventually(10-20 brews?) develop small holes/tears and need to be replaced.

Does anyone else think Sam Adam's beer sucks

Do I think their beer sucks...no I don't. They have several styles of beer which to me are quiet good.

    Saisons

Researching, I may have discovered a reason why I could detect no hazelnut in my recipe. Apparently I should not have added the extract to a hot liquid... I added at flameout. There is a good chance a lot of the extract "boiled off" since many extracts boil at less than the temperature water...

Unfortunately, one tablespoon per 10 gallons is apparently not enough extract, I can detect nothing of the hazelnut. I will try again at a later date.

posted in a different reply: "June 6th, a 2-liter starter hit the wort in the fermenter. A 68F start, ramping up to 80F a couple days later, then an aquarium heater set to 84F until the 13th. Seven days later, June 13th, the sg sits at 1.004. It was done. The yeast cake in a 10.5 gallon...
