Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

Only one batch so far, but used in conjunction with the Steam Slayer from Brew Hardware my boil-off was 0.6 gallons or 7% (8.3 gallons pre-boil and 7.7 gallons post-boil). PID is set to 100% until boil starts and then reduced to 25% once the lid is on and Steam Slayer functioning.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Used the Steam Slayer for the first time last night in conjunction with the Grounded eBIAB system, worked perfectly! The 6gph nozzle produced 7 gallons of waste water over a 60 minute boil with my system. Definitely had a cooked corn smell and boil-off was about 6-7%.

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

Finally got to brew the first batch with my Grounded eBIAB system. It was also my first attempt at a LODO brew day (last night), but I won’t derail this thread with much discussion on that topic. Overall it was a huge success for the first time with a new system and following new techniques...

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

Thanks for the detailed post and pictures! I was planning a TSP recirculation cleaning, but your post will ensure I am more thorough in the initial cleaning process. Water test and playing around with the heating element and recirculating with the pump is on deck tonight. Full cleaning and auto...

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

I have everything except for the basket hangers, TC pickup tube, and 12’ of tubing. That package is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I’ll try to post some pictures and first impressions once I have everything and can run a water test to figure out the setup.

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

Anyone here received the full kit yet and have any first impressions from a water test or brew day? My kettle, basket, and CFC arrived last week. I’m waiting on a few missing items to arrive so I can run a water test / auto tune cycle. Hoping to have a batch brewed in time for Thanksgiving but...

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

Mine arrived today as well. Haven’t unpacked everything yet and I still need the electrician to come terminate my 30A circuit, but hopefully I’ll be up and brewing by the end of this month!

    Unboxing the Penguin Chiller

@Dockside_Brewing how far are your glycol line runs from the chiller mounted on that microwave shelf? Any issue with the SS Brewtech pumps being powerful enough when the chiller is positioned well above the fermentors?

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

Received notice from Rex and the site has been updated. The stainless mesh basket shipping with the kits will now be 400 micron as it improved efficiency by a few %. Makes sense that with a slightly increased recirculation flow rate and drainage rate once you lift the basket that you’d get a...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

Parts list below (plus any 3” clamps and gaskets needed). My inspiration was to create a homebrew version of this Mini Dry Hop Cannon. https://marksdmw.com/products/mini-dry-hop-cannon 3” Butterfly Valve https://www.glaciertanks.com/sanitary-butterfly-valves-bth-g300-epdm.html 3” x 6” TC...

Doubling Down: SS Brewtech Conical + FTSS + Glycol Power Pack

Have you considered using a 3” butterfly valve and 3” x 6” TC tube as a “dry hop port”? You could install it in place of the PRV and still use the 3” blank TC cap to seal off the tube. Pour the hops into the tube, reinstall the cap, then slowly open the 3” butterfly valve to allow the hops to...

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

The included pump has been updated on their website as “NEW X-DRY (RUN DRY PROTECTION) CENTER INLET CHUGGER PUMP WITH STAINLESS HEAD”. Anyone have experience with the new X-Dry Chugger Pumps? I wasn’t able to find any reviews other than a video made by Chugger explaining the features.

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

If I decide to pull the trigger now vs. waiting 6+ months to re-evaluate the market, my options seem to be High Gravity or Grounded Brewing. With High Gravity, the 240V system with 15 gallon SS Brewtech kettle comes out to $1,178 shipped. Add the Stout CFC (comparable to the GBT option) at...

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

I’m still on the fence. 240v and 5500W is also a must if I make the move to eBIAB, not interested in waiting long periods of time for water to heat up. The dilemma is jump in with GBT at $1,710 (with stainless CFC) now, or give it 6 months and re-evaluate. I’m fairly certain the options will...

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

I did ask in an email if it was similar to the Stout offering and they said yes. If you look at the specs there are very few differences. Only $180 as an add-on with the 10% off code!

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

The 15 gallon kettle with 4 welded TC ports and custom mesh basket is fairly priced at $450 compared to other options on the market. The eBIAB controller is fairly priced at $476 compared to other options on the market. And IMO has the best fit/finish of any in that price range. That’s $926...

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

The lower tangential would be for whirlpool inlet return from the pump (with the exit from the kettle to the pump coming from the standard lower outlet pickup). The upper tangential is for mash recirculation, which would help maintain consistent temperature throughout the mash and should...

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

My original target price point was in the $1,200 range, but after seeing the quality and not needing anything else to get brewing with the system, $1,530 (price after 10% discount) is very tempting! I’ll be giving a purchase serious thought over the next few days during the pre-order plus 10%...

Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

Does that mean there will be 2 to 3 gallons of “dead space” below the mash basket? Or will the basket fit inside of the heating element?
