    Help With Douglas Fir Beer

So my Great Dane is named Douglas Fur because me and my wife are very corny and like punny animal names. We also lately have been making some recipes that have some relation (name and/or ingredients) to the pets we've had in our lives. I've got two already that will be regular rotations in my...

    Daisy Cutter Pale Ale

Wanted to bring this thread back up. I'll be attemping to brew up a clone this weekend. My wife and I both love Daisy Cutter and the beer has a bit of a sentimental value for us that I won't get into. But really been wanting to get a clone to keep it on tap in my place. Unfortunately my LHBS...

Anyone have a good Ginger beer recipe

I can't get to the recipe right now. But I have a recipe for an alcoholic ginger beer. Like the soda type with no malt. Uses sugar and champagne yeast. I back sweeten it with Xylotol so it's sweet and alcoholic but without the potential for bottle bombs. It tastes pretty close to Crabbies. I...

American Wheat Beer Orange American Wheat

I brewed this for the first time about a month ago. I really liked it but I had a slight bitter taste at the back end. It has faded a little since tapping. Even still I liked it and my friends liked it. Not sure if it was something I messed up or equipment or water. But want to get rid of it...

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

Ajdelange I'm still confused. I get the point you're making about less . But the original post says 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons. Then in your response to my question you say 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. Which would end up as more than the OP at 2&1/2 teaspoons per 5 gallons.

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

Hey thanks man. That helps a lot. Little confused with the first part though, the original post says 1tsp per 5 gallons. Your message above says half tsp per gallon. Which would it be? I assume what ever the answer is that if I use gypsum to replace half of the calcium with it?

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

I've read a lot of this thread, but don't have time for all of it. I'm just about to start messing with water for the first time soon. Been brewing with tap for years and occasionally get an off flavor. Also even my good beers with no off flavors don't seem to be quite as good as the local craft...

American Wheat Beer Orange American Wheat

I'm thinking of brewing this for a spring crawfish boil and want to do a test batch this weekend. Two questions though. 1. I've been doing BIAB for a few years now but haven't got into water adjustment yet, prolly gonna start soon just have no clue where to start. Has everyone been following...

How Many Gallons of Homebrew in 2018?

Which counter do I put alcoholic ginger beer in? My recipe steeps for an hour, kinda like a mash, but no boil at the end. I've got a gallon that will be fermenting before bed. Estimating 4.75% ABV

To keggle or not to keggle

Well thanks for all the help guys. I'm pretty settled on getting a kettle after everything said here. It seems like the better choice. Prolly pick up the keg later on in case I go traditional all grain. Now I just have to decide which kettle to get. Some good suggestions here. Thanks guys.
