    Use Airstone on keezer wall?

THe air pockets trapping heat seems logical. Appreciate the info

    Use Airstone on keezer wall?

I already have the keezer up and running. Yeah I know it gets hot but curious if the light nature of the veneer would affect heat dissipation

    Use Airstone on keezer wall?

Was curious about using airstone on the exterior wall of the keezer. Use adhesive and stick it right on the walls. It's rated for high temps and is basically a styrofoam stone veneer. I know people say don't put anything on the skin of the freezer b/c it won't dissipate heat when the...

    Dog DNA test

We got a rescue dog about 5 years ago when he was 16 weeks old. Rescue org thought he was lab/hound. We did the DNA test and it didn't find a primary breed, but did say secondary breed or German Shepherd Dog and Border Collie Not sure how accurate it is.

    Best 5000ml flask

I used the mr matly calculator. http: Depends on the OG, but for a 5.25 gallon batch @ OG 1.06, it says if you use 2 vials of yeast you can yield 438 billion cells with a 1.82L starter A BIG factor is the production date/viability of the yeast vial you receive. An older vial (90 days) will...

I don't care where you went

Any manufacturing plant is awesome to see. The amount of engineering needed to create an identical product in Gargantuan quantities is something to be marveled at.

    Best 5000ml flask

How big of a batch are you making? 5.25 gallon batch using a stir plate if you used 2 vials of the lager yeast in your starter you could get away with 2 Liters of pitched yeast. Do you need a larger stir plate if you go with a much larger flask?

Transform This Upright Freezer (Fermentation chamber)

Ahh, nevermind. In that case, making a Supersized Son of Fermentation Chamber using a full size freezer could work very well. I would add a small fan inside the chamber to circulate air for a more even temp distribution

Transform This Upright Freezer (Fermentation chamber)

Not sure you can run an upright freezer/fridge on it's side. I Thought the compressors were positioned in such a way that the oil keeps it lubricated. If placed in a fashion that deviated from upright the oil would drain away to another spot in teh coolant lines?

    Last 1/8 of keg...all foam

    1) I've seen when kegs get low it can get overcarbed. 2) Temperature. The less beer volume in the keg the greater the chance of the keg freezing. If the beer freezes, or the dip tube has beer in it that is frozen it will foam like an SOB

New to Kegging - Poppet Question

:rockin: Me as well. I started down the route with my used kegs replacing specific poppet valves and it's was a PITA. Tested with 1 set of the universal poppets and NEVER looked back.

How can gravity prime a pump.....

...with the inlet facing downward? A friend of mine has the inlet facing the ceiling which made sense to me since liquid would flow directly into the pump. March says to orient the pump with the inlet facing downwards, meaning liquid has to flow down from the Kettle/Tun/HLT then turn 180...

    Lager Power outage!!

The carboy was at my friends house and no I don't believe the yeast was roused when the temp was brought back down to 50* I could attempt a re-pitch but honestly I think we might just let this lager and drink it and re-brew the same recipe in a few months. Some of my buddies like a sweeter...

    Heineken: Official Olympic Beer

If they wanted the official beer to be British, then a British Company could have ponied up the $$ to own the official beer of the Olympics for 2012. That doesn't stop a politician from grandstanding and complaining that "It's not fair"

    aligal vs Co2

FYI, you can use a Stout faucet for any beer, you just have to take out the restrictor disc which normally agitates the beer to break the Nitrogen out of the solution. Looks cool too.

Adjust recipe due to plate chiller liquid lost?

Brewed a schwarzbier last week and noticed at the end of the boil that we had between 5.25-5.5 gallons of wort. Pumped through the plate chiller and when the boil kettle was empty we noticed the carboy was only full to 4.75+ gallons. This is a 30-plate chiller Do you all adjust your...
