Looking for opinions on my next grill

If they don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. ;)

Looking for opinions on my next grill

Worst case I expect 15 - 30 seconds of the 500k BTU weed burner torch would have the pile started to self sustaining point, LOL.

Looking for opinions on my next grill

I really don't foresee a shortage of paper of some sort to feed it any time in the near future.

Looking for opinions on my next grill

I use three pages of last week's newspaper crumpled up to light charcoal in a chimney. Sometimes I use the charcoal chimney itself as a mini grill.

Why won't my PID turn on?

Couple things... Clearly I can't speak for Auber but I do work at a large OEM and can advise tamper indicators/tell tales are not aways obvious, sometimes for a reason. OTOH, the stuff I deal with is typically orders of magnitude more expensive. Secondly, this isn't a line down, every minute...

Why won't my PID turn on?

B for sure because if you open the new one and for some reason something happens, Auber probably won't stand behind it if they can detect you opened it.

Looking for opinions on my next grill

My cousin has 26" Weber kettle. We have used it any number of times to add a bit of smoke to something we didn't want to have full blown smoke/BBQ on his Recteq pellet rig. The Weber worked great by just tossing a chunk or two of wood on the hot coals. 26" is big but, IMO, that adds more...

    Wine/juice pail stall?

In the past I did only kits using the included ingredients. They had the Super Kleer KC - type finings in them. Now I bentonite, Sparkolloid, and some of the KC-type finings. Would I use bentonite or Sparkolloid now (meaning when I rack) then the KC stuff before bottling, with clearing time of...

Why won't my PID turn on?

I thought I read that was checked.

Why won't my PID turn on?

My 2 cents remains the PID has kicked the bucket.

Why won't my PID turn on?

What is the specific model number of the Auber PID? SYL-???? Not sure it necessarily matters since I think many are the same/similar connections. If it's a 2342 or 2352 type, and you have power on those two terminals then I suggest the PID has gone belly up.

Why won't my PID turn on?

Not with your meter set to DC, for what I'm presuming would be/typically is AC power supply. Turn the dial to the 600 position by the V~ (Volts AC) symbol.

    Wine/juice pail stall?

0.998. Probably rack it to secondary in the next week or so.

    What are you drinking now?

Don't have any Miller High Life on ice, but I do have some Grain Belt Premium on ice.

swapping out a plug on an AIO power cord.

Gauge of the cord isn't necessarily related to the plug melting. The plug melting is more likely due to the cheap contacts in the typical extension cord/molded plug loosening up over repeated uses. The looser contact causes higher resistance then with the current results in localized heating...

Why won't my PID turn on?

Were it me I'd be checking mains power at the PID with my trusty multimeter. If there is mains power as expected then the PID is likely bad. If there is not the 120V or whatever is supposed to power the PID then you start backtracking to find the source of the disconnect, per se.

    What are you drinking now?

A hot summer day and a cooler full of those on ice was a staple back in the day 'round here. Even better were the ponys. Those ice cold 7oz bottles went down just a bit too well sometimes. LOL. I still do that on occasion, and enjoy it.

    What are you drinking now?

Cheap premixed with booze margaritas. Best thing 'bout it is I'm on the last one then it's gone. LOL.

    Electric System Problems

G Greater than 10 since 10-12 insulated terminals are the largest rated size for the full cycle crimpers I have. Last project for the hydraulic crimper was 6ga for 210Ah battery I assembled from "lithium" prismatic cells. These are uninsulated terminals but heat shrinked over the barrels and a...

Don't throw out that expired dry yeast!

Not brewing yeast, but at the onset of the COVID pandemic we bought a 1lb package of SAF instant baking yeast. I broke it down into smaller amounts and used Foodsaver to vacuum pack them. Stored in the freezer. No doubt is well past the original expiry date but still using it and hasn't let me...
