    Pitch that starter man! 20 hours is good enough. As long as you are pitching the entire thing then pitch now. If you are waiting to let it ferment out, then you should have started the yeast starter two days from brew day, giving it 24 hours to build, then chill overnight, decant and pitch...

    You will be good, try to use it within a two or three week period though. Otherwise decant the old beer and dump some fresh made starter wort(DME) in (about 1L) and step it up again. Then use next day at high krausen. 12-18 hours from addition.

    I have had hefeweizens finish in 3-4 days before. Testing via hydrometer etc. is the only way to know for sure. I normally leave the beer on the yeast for 2-3 weeks minimum as that seems to be the consensus from the experts on this forum. Why re-invest the wheel, listen to experience, I do...

    I agree with Yooper, you need enough water in the mash for 1.5 to 2.0 qts/lb. Then hope you have 3 gal or more for the sparge.

    Barley Crusher grain mill for sure. Get yourself some feeler gauges to set up the right gap as well, as it it adjustable. I took my efficiency to 80% from 67% from the grind alone. I have mine set at .034.

    Cold Crash Length ?

    Hi All, New member here as of today! Been lurking for months however :) I would like to know how many days I should cold crash a hefeweizen before kegging. I am not looking for total clarity of the beer, but want as much as possible to drop out of the beer. Thanks for your help. EROK
