    Date with the Cam

acid reflux is diet related. keep a food diary. what ever upsets your stomach, make a note and stop eating it. PPi's are bad news because they prevent stomach acid production. you need stomach acid to absord nurtients properly. liquid nuritents are the least upsetting on the digestive...

    almost got busted for emptys

it doesn't matter what the law actually says, it is what the cops actually do. try asking them to recite the code to you... again, it's the officers descretion. you may beat the rap but you won't beat the ride. it's called revenue generation. The NY code is pretty simple, Texas gets a...

Is anyone else accused of being in a cult???

    almost got busted for emptys

depending on your state, yes you can get a citation for open container even if it is empty. like in the "thought experiment" if it is empty that could mean you just drank it. its the cop's call if you have actually been drinking or not. in texas you can still get in trouble if someone else...

    Internet Vs LHBS

cool thanks. i had glanced at it before but wasn't sure if it was necessary to score the rollers but it seems like it. I have a pasta mill already but i don't think my wife will like me taking tools to it :cross:

Do you really need to take a vial of White Labs yeast out of the fridge 3-6 hours?

i don't a variation in temperature is the concern how big the variation is and what can the yeast withstand. If your yeast in in the fridge at say 50*F and you pitch that into 70*F wort, that's not a very big difference. now if you pitched into 160*F wort, i would think it might kill the...

    Modified BIAB

if you are holding temps, then check your crush. i just mash in the BK. if you can reduce headspace you can hold your temps for an hour or more. then make up the rest with your sparge water. 88% aint bad.

    Beer clean glasses

keep a few glasses just for beer, rinse them out after you use them or just hand wash them.

    Internet Vs LHBS

did you modify it or doesn it crush well as is? as far LHBS, Austin Home Brew is pretty great. as long as people aren't jerks and stay somewhat attentive to the customers in the store, i prefer to shop local if ican

    mash tun vs. efficiency?

i've just been reading about cold water sparging getting the same efficiency as heated water, so if you batch sparge you could skip heating all together. the poster could also eliminate sparge temp or mash out temp as the low efficiency culprit.

    Cold Steeping Dark Grains

just sanitize well and pitch a big starter, you should be fine adding it at flame out. most bugs are killed at 170. this guy did a "No Boil" AG batch - https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f13/experiment-idea-no-boil-ag-beer-202785/

    Fermenting in Carboy?

just fill your carboy with 5 gallons of water and see where the water level is. some carboys are different than others. mine could really hold 6 gallons (5 gallons at start of curve) when filled to the absolute top, so a 5 gallon batch is no problem. others have less head room...

    Underage Brewing?

this is just retarded. no homebrew shop is ever going to get shut down from selling a bag of wheat to a teenager. if they won't sell to you, so be it. have someon else buy your ingredients for you. the only reason you would get in trouble is if you tried to sell it and then it doesn't...
