Another hop project - Lake County Florida

It's May and 2 of the 3 plants have reached the top of the trellis already. Question: one of them has already started flowering. I'm thinking it is because of the recent 'cool' snap we have had. Should I switch away from a vegetative fertilizer?

Stopped by WickedWeed in Asheville recently. Beautiful restaurant. The actual brewery is located downstairs. You can sit right there and watch them brew. Awesome!!! As for their beers, the Porch Crawler was out of this world!!! I would absolutely love to brew a clone of this one...

Cigar City maduro oatmeal brown clone attempt

I actually almost poured this one out soon after my last post but something in my head said let it sit. So I did. 1.5 months later and boom! It's strong as heck and has a nice alcoholic taste. Not cigar city maduro but pretty damn good. I previously stated that I may try to mash higher at...

    Growing Hops in Central Florida

My 1st year potted plants are sucking wind most likely due to me using 3-4-6 fertilizer. I recently fertilized w/24-8-16 miracle grow for s&g's so we'll see what happens. On the positive side, I found lady bugs on one of the plants doing their job :) Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Ok, the color on this is WAY off. Too light. Also, the taste is WAY off...too bitter. I mashed at 147'F by accident so that is most likely the culprit. Maybe I boofed the ingredients? Oh well, if at first you don't succeed..............I'll definitely try this one again.

    Paulasaurus's Hops Garden

Couple of questions. Do you suggest clipping the ends to force side shoots? Also, about how tall should first years (from rhizome) be at this time of year? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

I don't like blow off tubes. I do all of my 3 gallon batches in a 5 gallon carbon. I shoot for 3.25-3.5 gallons during fermentation so that I get ~3gallons kegged :) Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew
