    First AG batches seem..

I've solved the issue of holding mash temps by installing a ULWD element in my keggle. I had 2 HWD elements in there before so i was worried about melting my bag (myth or not) but it works great now. In an effort to sum up this thread, i've narrowed it down to being my mash in temp of 17x...

Thank you, you as well. And i'll be sure to be more detailed in my titles in the future.

The thread has 25 views and 24 comments. I understand your reasoning, and I will in the future, but it sounds to me like someone needs to RDWHAHB

    First AG batches seem..

I've got another question for you guys. So i kegged the beer i was mentioning along with another beer i brewed that weekend while i had a few too many homebrews i guess, to notice that they are still VERY green. Is it ok for me to take them out of the keezer and let them age a bit longer? or...

    First AG batches seem..

Wow. Glad i dont have to shell out that kind of money for brews. Makes it a little bit easier on the wallet when i get some not-as-planned brews.

    First AG batches seem..

Makes Sense. I'll have to bump up the IBU's and pair it with, say, us-05 or something like that in the future. I'll be brewing this again sometime for sure, so i'll post up the difference on here when i do. I think now that i have the process beginning to solidify and my equipment working...

Yeah this made me think too. I've already checked my hydrometer in 60 deg distilled water and it reads 1.000 so that is good. I do need a better thermometer, the ones i have are not good..

Sounds good. Thanks for the quick replies. I know my mash schedule is probably wrong, so that is my first guess. I only did 3 extract batches before going to AG, a scottish 80, Pumpkin ale, and winter spiced ale. All were good, but with the spiced ales it is harder to notice if it is sweet...

    First AG batches seem..

Really sweet for some reason.. Im talking after fermentation and kegging and what not. I had some issues with efficiency for my first 2 batches (hit ~50%) and i notice it quite a bit in those. The 2 batches i did over the weekend i had the hbs double crush so i got better efficiency (76%...

    First Porter..

And it has a really strong alcohol smell, but the taste is 100% different as it tastes wonderful! Is this something normal for porters/stouts? I haven't had many of these styles of beer so im not really accustomed to their particular aromas, but is this normal for the style?

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I got a recipe from BMW for what i thought was a New Belgium Fat Tire clone, but is in fact a Flat Tire recipe, so i'll be brewing whatever that is. I hope it turns out good, but in the end it will be beer so it will be good.

    Brewmasters Warehouse

I got an email saying they would make the swap on my yeast and ship out my stuff today. I'm very happy to have the quick response from them and happy my order is getting shipped today. I'll probably stay with them for another few orders and see if it was just because of that busy week, and if...

    Brewmasters Warehouse

I just asked them to replace mine with Danstar BRY-97 American West Coast Ale Yeast, its an experimental brew anyway so.. but i also mentioned if they cant do that then to nix the yeast and i'll drive 2 hours to get some from the LHBS

It'd be one thing if they mentioned something in the 2 emails i sent to them about, say, "oh your yeast is out of stock and thats why it is taking forever" but to just ignore my questions about my items being in stock is just not cool.

Great. Looks like im not brewing this weekend, AGAIN! I ordered on 11-26.. and im just now getting an email for out of stock? I mean come one.. Guess i'll be taking my business elsewhere in the future.

My order from 11-26 is also still pending. 2 emails sent to them, one saying it would ship late last week, latest one saying between monday and wednesday of this week. Would have been nice to get a call about the US-05 issue, as i have that in my order as well.. Looks like i should give them...

eBIAB Brewers: Basket or No Basket?

I have an eBIAB setup in my keggle, so no basket for me.. Has anyone found one that works well in a keggle? i cant imagine fitting a basket in a keggle on top of heating elements without 12g of water in there or so.

    1800w Burton Induction Hot Plate

I did 3g boils in mine and it took between 30-45 mins to hit boil. I'm using 3500 in a keggle now with 2 heating elements and my boil time is about 30 minutes for 7.5 gallons. I'd look into a heat stick if you want to do biab with the burton. Maintain mash temps with the burton, get to boil...
