Working and drinking an old homemade German Southern Pils.

I brew mostly Altbiers than Kölsch. The Kölsch pictured was brewed with 95% Pilsner, and 5% Munich I from Weyerman.

I ran into a pump problem today. My automated mash water delivery pump for the two mash tuns quit. The other pump in the same system used for the guided/manual brewing took over but it requires operator control. The pump capacitor turned out to be defective.

Let us dump Lager and Ale and use top- and bottom-fermented beers from German-speaking countries. Because of our political climate, many German beers are relabeled for the US market. If a label says it's great with pork chops, the beef producer goes crazy and runs to court.

In the German-speaking brewing world, a Lager refers to Helles or Helles Lager. A Pils, bockbeers, etc., are all bottom fermented like a Helles but are not called lagers. Three years ago, when the head brewer from Weihenstephan Tobias introduced his new Helles, English-speaking listeners were...

I don't think it is a rip-off. In our county, they pay an inventory tax just for those things hanging there. As a homebrewer, I keep spare parts to avoid problems.

It's a nice-looking German dark. Not all German darks are Schwarzbiers. Please work on the beer foam to make your German beer look great.

I am forced to drink inside again while mother nature is sandblasting the cars. If we are lucky, those free services may stop in three weeks. An old homemade Oktoberfest is my choice for tonight.
