    Feed store beer

I just looked up "bracconiere." It's Italian for "poacher." It's pronounced "bra-ko-nyerr-ay."

    $upport your local store, until....

My HBS is not very L. I have to drive over an hour. I don't make special trips, but I have tried to arrange to pick things up on occasions when I had to be in town for other reasons. I also place big mail orders to make shipping more cost-effective. I never buy grain anywhere else, because...

    Snake Dog Recipe?

I love brewing original beers, but sometimes you need a clone. Is there a good, reliable recipe out there for Flying Dog Snake Dog Ale? It's just an IPA, but the ABV is high, and they claim they use 5 different hops. I don't know if there is really any point in using that many hops. I wonder...

FIrst ever beer- problem with S.G.

I would focus more on basic technique and less on science. You don't have to be completely on top of every detail to make beer. You are apparently building up a wealth of knowledge which may be distracting you from fundamentals. I think you should do what I used to do for lab classes. Write out...

Supplement Dry Yeast for Strong Ale With Fresh Yeast from New Batch?

I am mainly concerned about infection and cell count. I suppose I'm paranoid because I got a string of infections 20 years ago while using plastic fermenters. I'm concerned about the wisdom of sticking a hairy arm with a spoon down into a keg, but I guess it will work. I see a couple of sources...

First time kegging, liquid coming out of picnic tap

I really like Torpedo stainless picnic taps. No idea whether they'll take 30 psi, but they work really well. I think Mac_1103 gave you the straight poop, though.

Supplement Dry Yeast for Strong Ale With Fresh Yeast from New Batch?

I made a beer somewhere in the ballpark of a quad (1.100), using a fair amount of wheat. The beer is sweeter than I would like, and it has a lot of pineapple flavor, so I'm going to try another version with less Special B, a different set of hops, and some additional junk. The first beer has...

What came in the mail for you today?

I made a Christmas ale, and it's not quite what I want, so today I received a new batch of malt plus a bag of DME.

    Well, there's a big surprise.

    Feed store beer

Ask yourself this: would a feed provider knowingly sell toxic feed to the owner of a horse worth two million dollars? To people whose livestock are pets? To people whose livestock go on to be eaten by human beings? As a lawyer, I really hope they would! I don't think they would, though. They...

why does kegged commercial beer always taste better than bottled ?

There were a lot of great things about Ireland. The people were wonderful, except for the gypsy crime mobs that make a living attacking and robbing people in pedestrian areas. I actually liked the weather. Northern Florida is a furnace for about 5 months every year, so I enjoyed being closer to...

why does kegged commercial beer always taste better than bottled ?

It was just in your head. I didn't even think about what the locals drank, because why would I? The web says Murphy's is big where it's made but nowhere else. I found Ireland to be extremely touristy everywhere, and they sell tourists garbage. Thin, disposable Aran Islands sweaters made by...

How are You Measuring Fermentation Temperature?

You left out the part where I said I was making changes.

What came in the mail for you today?

Bunch of Nottingham, Lalbrew Munich Classic, and Lallemand Abbaye. I am anxious to try Munich Classic and see if I can get flavors reminiscent of Spaten or Schneider Weisse.

Yeah, I didn't get to try that one.

why does kegged commercial beer always taste better than bottled ?

Let me set satisfy people's curiosity. I spent a couple of weeks in Ireland. Guinness and Murphy's tasted like they do here. I can't mention his name, but a famous idiot once said he tried Guinness for the first time at the Shannon airport, and he realized it was better than it was in the...

why does kegged commercial beer always taste better than bottled ?

I prefer kegged beers, too, but I'm not sure it's rational. Food tastes better served outdoors. All you have to do is take your plate outside, and BANG, the food is better.
