    Belgian Tripel Tripel Karmeliet Clone

Ok, when I made my batch, I forgot to put the star anise in the boil. But, since I was adding sugar to the fermenter, I boiled a lb of sugar in water to sanitize and I used that occasion to make a tea of the star anise. I didn't crush or anything, just boiled in the sugar for about 5 min...

Yikes! I used one star and felt it was plenty!

    Muted Flavors

For nearly all IPAs I’ve brewed in the past I’ve used wlp001 or SO5. The hops have always been more pronounced — I just decided to experiment with the English yeast this time

    Muted Flavors

Try a batch of pale ale or ipa with RO water built up to a pale ale profile using a spreadsheet like brun water. Also, don’t use SO4. Try SO5 if you want to stick with dry yeast or get a good liquid yeast like white labs 001 or 007... just my 2 cents FWIW, I made an IPA recently with White...

    Del a ware

Welcome from NC. Visited Jessop's Tavern in New Castle a couple weeks ago. Fantastic place, so Delaware is OK by me!

Will partial LODO brewing yield discernable results?

Thank you and previous poster for the links - maybe I can do this after all

Will partial LODO brewing yield discernable results?

2 1/2 years of home brewing and I’m still learning a lot. The problem I see with trying to do anything LODO with a recirculating ebiab system is you still have pump cavitation and usually a spray of wort coming back to the top of the mash. I’m thinking about trying some of these methods by...

Will partial LODO brewing yield discernable results?

Intrigued by this discussion but doubting my ability to do much LODO with my current recirculating eBIAB system - the benefits of a fine crush and constant recirculation probably have a steep downside if you’re worried about hot side aeration.

I'm Charles from Central NY (Syracuse)

When I started 2.5 yrs ago I bought a cheap starter kit online at Midwestsupplies and it came with a kit called power pack porter - it was great!

I'm Charles from Central NY (Syracuse)

Welcome, I was in SYR last week. Got my snow driving chops back... WOB at the mall was cool while waiting for a flight... Biab is an awesome way to go. Figure out how you’re going lift/drain/squeeze the bag. Highly recommend wilser bag and ratchet combo - just install an eye bolt/hook into...

Hydraulic lift cart from harbor freight: It really does a great job on brew day with my eBIAB system!

Belgian Blond Ale Revvy's Belgian Blonde (Leffe Clone)

I waited it out for over 3 weeks and finally decided the amylase was necessary. I recall sprinkling a little less than a teaspoon on the top of the beer.

Belgian Blond Ale Revvy's Belgian Blonde (Leffe Clone)

If you look back a page I had the identical issue with wlp530 and this recipe. Heating to the mid 70s didn’t seem to help. I finally added a tiny bit of amylase enzyme and it brought it down to 1.013. I also mashed at 156 so maybe that accounts for it too... let me also add I am not in the...

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

Not sure I’d bother with carapils. I don’t think you’ll have any issues with head retention with this grain bill. The brown malt would be good and within style IMO.

Westy clone with 530 - what should I bottle with?

Thanks for that info, I'd never heard of cbc-1. Will give it a try next time. As a side note, opened another bottle yesterday (approx. 7 mos from brew day). It's really coming into it's own now!
