beer pouring FAST from picnic tap, in keezer

If you've had it rocking for five years, first thing i'd check is to see if the thermostat is not bad and the temperature is raising inside without your knowledge. I wouldn't think that continued fermentation in the keg would affect it that much overnight unless it is still dropping a lot of...

Blichmann QuickCarb (New from HomebrewCon 2016)

I used the same pump ElChangoGuero used. I'm not sure if the flow is adjustable. I'm going to use it today for the first time, so I should know soon. Thanks.

Blichmann QuickCarb (New from HomebrewCon 2016)

How did it work? I built one using pretty much the same pump and parts... any tips or anything you noticed that you might change? Also, does this pump have a adjustable flow like KelysBane is describing? Thanks.

Considering buying a stir plate. Suggestions?

I've used this with a 2 liter flask and even used a one gallon carboy a couple of times for 10.5 gallon batches, because the speed is adjustable, it never throws the stir bar either! Its ugly, but I don't care about that...it makes great starters, which make great beers! If the cardboard box...

Considering buying a stir plate. Suggestions?

Soldering? What soldering, lol. I built this last year using an old cardboard sony camera box (free), a cpu fan from an old PC I had laying around (free), rare earth magnets from said PC (free), a plate of glass from a small picture frame I had broken a while before (free) and a variable voltage...

Blichmann QuickCarb (New from HomebrewCon 2016)

I also am building a version of this. Any input on the length or diameter of the liquid lines? Does anyone notice or have an opinion on whether the lines should be longer or shorter on either side to improve functionality?

    The Difference 3 Days Makes

Now I too am confused about these responses... What ever happened to giving the yeast time to clean up after themselves? Are you saying once FG is hit, the beer is finished and there is no need to leave it on the yeast a little longer, which has been the widespread belief going around this forum...

    Adding spices to your coffee

In NM, Pinon Coffee is all the rage. They add roasted pinon (pine nuts) to the coffee. It is delicious!

BABM (or Badass Belgian Mead for long)

This is the best short mead (though I guess its really a pyment if I add grape juice??) I've ever made or had. Delicious and easy to drink at 2 months, even better at 4 mo, 6 mo, etc... I first made it because I love the profile of this yeast when fermented in the high 60's. Slightly peppery...

IPA: Plastic fermenter vs corney keg

Update on this, after 9 days in the keg and force carbed at 25 psi for three days then 12 psi for three days, here is the situation.... The beer fermented in the plastic has a lot less hop flavor and aroma. It is significant. Here are my conclusions: There was less trub in the keg, and less...

    Blood Orange Juice + Beer

I too judge how loved I am by the cool homebrew stuff I get at holidays! LOL. My b-day was yesterday. I got a last straw bottle filler and a gift card to the LBHS!

    1st Batch

That will continue to change for at least a year. I've made multiple BOMM's and short meads. They go through many serious changes over the first several months and up to the first year) probably long after that if they last that long!) At bottling time, my short meads are amazing ! A few weeks...

    Blood Orange Juice + Beer

If it were me, I'd use a mix of wheat and pilsner malts. I'd also add a hefty amount of honey and make a braggot (you want dry and boozey). For the hops, I think I'd go with a fruity/earthy hop (but not particularly citrusy...i'm thinking stone fruit) that would showcase the orange and honey...
