It's not in the woods, it's in a clearing. The mystery remains.

    New Brewer Wanting Advice

IMO, new brewers should start off with simple recipes until they have the process down. There are so many variables in brewing that, if something screws up, it can be hard to nail down the cause of a bad beer. Thus, simplicity at the outset can help ensure that the initial batches turn out...

    Hop Dropper for SSB Unitank

Oh, half a day or so. Two points of gravity is equal to about 1 volume of CO2 produced as it ferments, i.e., in a 5-gallon batch, as the gravity drops two points the yeast will have produced about 5 gallons of CO2. I can't remember the exact volume of my sight glass, and I'm too lazy right...

    Hop Dropper for SSB Unitank

I just, as in 10 minutes ago, removed the ball lock connectors from the hop droppers, so the system is now sealed. That will allow natural carbonation from the remaining fermentation. Depending on how much you want to trust the TILT hydrometer I have in the fermenter, gravity is between 1.017...

    Hop Dropper for SSB Unitank

I've got this going for hop dropping right now, in fact, I have TOO MUCH capacity. I bought the new Spike lid with 3 ports so that I could use TWO hop droppers instead of only one. In fact, I bought a 2" sight glass, 2" butterfly valve, and a 1.5" to 2" adapter to connect them. My biggest...

    Hop Dropper for SSB Unitank

Early on, I used a corny keg post connector to the racking valve on my Spike. I discovered it tended to clog, so I switched that connector to a male camlock, used a female camlock attached to some tubing, then terminated that tubing with a ball-lock liquid "out" black connector. When it comes...

    Batch 100--Name needed

It's been 5 1/2 years but I have done it--yesterday I brewed batch #100. A friend of mine suggested an appropriate recipe for 100 would be something like Bell's Two Hearted Ale, which uses only Centennial hops in the recipe. Centennial....100.....makes sense. But.... I need a name. "Batch...

    is the AHA a scam??

I was a member for a while, decided I wasn't getting enough benefit to make it worth the cost, and stopped. Pretty easy decision. If it doesn't work for you, vote with your feet. :)

When I first saw that clip, years ago, I nearly passed out from lack of air I was laughing so hard. "So you do this one time?" "NO--Eighteen F*****G times!"

how about a meme generator thread...

I'm reluctant to go there, to be honest. The problem is making acronyms plural. PRVs is plural of PRV. PRV's is the PRV possessive. I don't know what PRV' would signify, other than a TPYO. And truth be told, I just thought it was funny to say "Apostrophe Nazi."
