Yeast Starter - Gone Bad?

Another lesson learned. I just finished brewing an Irish Stout. Let's hope those yeasties didn't learn that lesson too quick. I'll report back tomorrow.

Thanks! SHMBO is at the mall, so I've got this afternoon to brew... so I'm going for it. Come on yeasties!

    Yeast Starter - Gone Bad?

No malt extract, just priming sugar and that yeast nutrient. Do you think I can still use the yeast?

    Yeast Starter - Gone Bad?

I started a yeast starter yesterday in a ½ gallon growler. I use a Brewer's Best kit but I can't remember the name of the yeast... I threw away the envelop, argh! I used some yeast nutrient (from my LHBS, no idea what it is) and some priming sugar. It’s been 24 hours and the yeast is on...

    Capping Procedure

My EZ-capped bottles turned out great, but my 12 oz regular capped bottles did not carbonize well. There’s still a small release of pressure, but not much. I’ve since given all my 12-ozers a couple extra presses with my capper. They now have a small bump on top. Is there something...

    Flat beer

Mine have been at 65F (Basement) for 2 weeks... should I move them upstairs? It's normally 72ish upstairs. Will a week be enough time? I'm pretty sure I can't wait any longer... :D

    Priming/Carbonation

While I do have to secondary carboys... (second has not been used yet, I bought it when I didn't know the primary needed to be 6.5 gallons), I use my primary as my mixing bucket. No need to my another bucket.

    Which sugar whjen bottling?

What kind of sugar is in Brewers Best kits? It just says Priming Sugar. I have no idea what kind of sugar it is.

    Secondary...?

I saw this post while searching for what should be happening in my secondary... which it's just sitting there, doing nothing. Nothing in the lock for the 5 minutes I could stand looking at it. Good to see the answer. However I'm brewing an American Cream Ale and the idea of...

Man, that's right... what do you do after drinking "real" beer and someone offers you one of their store bought. How do you keep a straight face? :D

    Adding Water to the Secondary?

    Good thoughts, thanks Dave!

    Adding Water to the Secondary?

This was what I was thinking. If everything I've done was designed for 5 gallons then I wouldn't really be dilluting passed what was intended.

    Adding Water to the Secondary?

I'm such a weenie, I didn't take an original hydrometer reading. I didn’t have ready turkey baster or testing container (which was my bigger problem). When I started I thought I could float the hydrometer in my carboy. Nope, no way to get it back out. So I have to go buy one of...
