WHEAT! Second Beer on the Way

Sorry to hear about your grandfather. He was probably given "Foreshots", the first batch of distillate containing Acetone and Methane.

WHEAT! Second Beer on the Way

I make beer and drink it. It's illegal to make moonshine in the USA.

WHEAT! Second Beer on the Way

An all corn beer would be a "Wash". A distilling term for moonshiners who make you know what from that. Been there, done that.

    Next Step?

Hey Redrocker, to save the bag from ripping as you raise it, spin it a little.

    Beginner need advice, Klarstein

Jla1190, to cool wort quickly, I have a second Stainless steel 25' coil set in another pot containing Ice water, effectively a pre-chiller. Water from the kitchen faucet passes through that before it goes through the coil in the brew kettle. I just run a trickle through this system and also use...

You will be so much happier after you get a ball valve installed. Good luck with the BIAB projects.

Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

Welcome aboard Time2Retire. I "retired" 4 years ago, so got plenty of time on my hands, (I hope!). Been brewing beer 35 years now and about to check out my new still. Got a whiskey wash fermenting downstairs where temp is a constant 67F year round. (Lucky or what?). Rice wine sounds like it...

My blowoff tube is not bubbling after 3 days but my fermentation bucket feels warm. What to do

I would seal the rim with duct tape, wait two weeks since pitching the yeast, then take an SG reading. (You did check the OG, yes?), decide what to do when you get the results.

CP Bottle filler straight from fermentor

I fill my bottles directly from the fermentor through a 3/8 tube and a bottle wand. I bottle prime with simple syrup using a small funnel and a 1/2 TBS measure. Depending on the size of bottles you have will determine the volume of syrup to make. i.e. 6 Gallons in the fermentor Figure Trub loss...

    Grain Mill

I use my plug-in heavy duty drill to drive my mill. I added legs to the mill base to fit in the paint bucket for stability in case I let go of the drill, and that prevents the mill from toppling. I also use the same drill with a paint stirrer in the middle of the chiller coils when cooling...

50% OFF for Inkbird 1000 Watts WiFi Sous Vide — Only $40.49 can get one

I have been using my SV for step mashing and single infusion since Christmas 2018, (present). Only used it for steak one time. It's showing signs of age having used it once a month since then, so could use a new model. Thank you for offering the code to us.

    Crazy Idea...Centrifuge Fermenter

Have you tried a dab of Irish Moss a few minutes before flame out?

PSA - Stop lifting your heavy kettle. Clean more efficiently. Save your back!

My Artificer in the Army once told me to give the hardest job to the laziest man and he will find the easiest way to do it!

PSA - Stop lifting your heavy kettle. Clean more efficiently. Save your back!

To get a full FV from the garage floor into the FC, a 2x10x8' plank could be used as a slide, depending on how high the FC shelf is.

    Moving Wort

Two trips, (not literally), is the way to go. You figure it out.
