Hey guys/gals,
I've had Midwest's Old Ale in a carboy with some oak chips for right at a year now. I am getting ready to bottle it but I just thought of something. After a year, there really isn't going to be any yeast left, right? So I'm thinking I should add some yeast before I bottle this. I...
i brewed the two kits that i linked and they both came out with very low or no carbonation after two weeks of conditioning. the beer itself was wonderful but the leak of CO2 is very frustrating. i have brewed 3 of their kits and the first one was fine so i have no idea what i did wrong or if...
If there's any left over glue on the bottle, a SOS pad takes the glue right off without any hard scrubbing.
Its a hard life having to drink all that beer to make those bottles empty but, hell, someone has to do it.
i used this method when i pitched my yeast.
i went to my local homebrew store and picked up from Wyeast nutrients and put 1/4 teaspoon into my 1 gallon "cider" and it went bananas! it has since calmed way down but i am getting a bubble from my bubbler every 3-4 seconds... success?
that maybe the problem cause there is not a list of the added spices to the cider.
i pitched them dry. i'm going to get another gallon of just apple juice, re-hydrate the yeast with some nutrients and see what happens.
The temp they are fermenting at is 68ish. I got some yeast nutrients and I was thinking about adding some more yeast with some nutrients or getting a different kind of apple cider... like maybe something from wholefoods.
That's a good idea. Should I add some yeast nutrients today?
Fyi, this is the juice I used.

it's been about 5 days and i'm getting zero signs of fermenation. only thing that has changed is a thin film on the bottom of each carboy.
btw this is the Apple Cider i used.

I double checked on the apple packaging and on their website and I saw nothing about any preservatives at all. I thought of that at first but I can't find any thing....
