Can anyone give me an easy answer to treating brewing water for optimal performance in making an ale? I'm just hoping to buy RO water and make some adjustments and go...I have Gypsum and Calcium Carbonate and have just added 1 tbsp. of each to my strike water in the past but not sure if that is...
Right On, thanks! With hat in mind, I dry hopped this weekend and will cold crash and then keg it next weekend provided the readings look stable.
Cheers!
Thank you!. Yeah, I read that on the package also for the WLP001. Apparently it likes 68-73 Deg. Perhaps I'll bump the ferm chamber up a deg.
Might just brew it again and make a starter and see which one turns out better..
Anyway, going to wait it out for another week or two and see how...
I'm not as experienced as a lot of guys on here but I believe you need about 1-1.25 qt of water for every pound of grain. Not sure how that converts when using extract. Adding your recipe to your post might help with getting some more advise also. I have had beers that missed the OG reading and...
So I brewed a rather simple IPA this weekend. I have watched it daily and it seemed to take a couple days to get going on the fermentation and then is seemed very inactive. Built what looked like a decent Krauzen after a couple days in the ferm chamber and then it petered out. I'm hoping some of...
Another vote for chest freezer and Inkbird...I even looked into building the temp controller using the stc 1000 and by the time you buy everything, you paid for the Inkbird (or close anyway). Like $39.00 on Amazon with free deliv if you're Prime....Check craigslist for used Chest Freezers. Had a...
Thanks for the other words of encouragement tootal, jpakstis and Pariah3j. I hope it turns out ok but I'm going to pay more attention next time I ferment two at the same time in the same chamber...
I tested the temp controller against a thermo pen after this happened with the same concern. The temp controller has a differential compensating feature also so I was making sure I didn't need to use that feature. It is apparently reading correctly. Thermowell/probe was over half way (2/3...
The Thermowell/probe was in the current batch... That's why I was surprised...I thought I'd be fine and both beers would be at 67 deg...Apparently not the case so I learned when I moved the probe...
At first I just thought it was the thermowell that had gotten up to ambient, but it took...
So I was really excited to have nailed my OG for my first all-grain batch(Bells 2 Hearted IPA). Made my yeast starter on my stir plate and pitched at the right temp. Felt really good about everything including my cleanliness. Then I put it in the Ferm chamber with the carboy of beer that I made...
