    Spring 2024 Corny Keg Giveaway

I brewed an Irish Red Ale on 2/29. It's a leap year beer.

I've had no problems with my 3 AMCYL kegs, all purchased new.

So you're now the new new guy. I have to find the old new guy and break the news to him. Good luck and welcome aboard.

"new" CO2 tank dial in red already

You can tell how much co2 is in the tank by weight. Close the valve on the tank and remove the regulator. Then weigh the tank and subtract the tare weight which is usually stamped on the tank, T or TW. Check the weight every day to see if it's dropping to confirm a leak. If so, then do the...

    Dual Outpur Gas Regulator

Great info from @Broken Crow. I would suggest a duotight fitting on the regulator instead of a barb. It looks like the shutoffs valves on the unit you selected are beer thread, so this should convert it to a push fitting...

Is buying a kegerator for sparkling water worth it?

You could try a SodaStream and either hook it up to your co2 tank directly or refill the tank it comes with. I use the tank fill adapter and it works fine. Adapter to connect co2 tank directly...

    Dual Outpur Gas Regulator

That's correct, with the correct temperature and psi, you will not overcarb your beer. Use a carbonation chart to figure the ideal psi based off the temperature and style of the beer. Hose length does not impact the carbonation levels in your beer. Hose length is used to calculate the...

    Dual Outpur Gas Regulator

I can't vouch for the quality of this regular, although I do like Kegland products. It seems a lot of concern is that this unit doesn't have shut offs or check valves. If you decide to purchase it, you can easily add them. Inline shut-off valve...

    Flip cap failure...

I'm just hung up on the term easier because it implies a level of difficulty. It's not difficult to crimp a cap, it just involves a few additional steps and take a few seconds longer. Both capping methods are perfectly acceptable and just a matter of preference. I prefer crimp on caps because...

    Flip cap failure...

Exponentially easier? Really? Everyone has their preference, but crimp on caps are as easy as it gets.

    Flip cap failure...

I never understood the appeal of flip tops. Crimp tops are effective and require no maintenance. Plus, when sharing beer, less important that they return the empty bottles.

    Foam on top of wort??

You can just lower the heat and stir until foaming subsides. Then ramp it back and add the bittering hops.

    First batch

No harm doing the funnel thing, but likely more trouble than it's worth. I would just crack the lid open and pour the hops in.

How much water is needed to make your wort

When I first started BIAB brewing, I used an online calculator called Priceless BIAB Brew in a Bag Calculator. It was simple enough and pretty accurate at predicting volume, temperature, and gravity. When I started designing my own recipes, I moved to Beersmith, which can do all that and more...
