    CO2 cylinders

Yeah, that's another thing about exchanges. I don't have to fret if I'm going to get a shiny new-ish tank because any one is better than the expired one I started with, LOL. (And, yeah, they're not artwork for me either; simply part of the means to an end.)

Black sooty smoke from jet gas burner

Ya need to figure out the gas pressure required and see if you have that. The rest is sorta sprinkling in the wind until you establish the fundamental of proper gas supply.

Black sooty smoke from jet gas burner

Aren't there specs with it that say the nominal gas pressure it needs? Of course, with that comes necessity for the meter, piping, and regulator(s) to be capable of enough volume to maintain the correct working pressure at the burner. Matters what all runs on gas at your house, how much any...

    CO2 cylinders

Hydro testing aspect is why I exchange. The tanks I bought off marketplace were expired but the place I exchange tanks took them anyway. They said cost of hydrotesting is baked into exchanges. Since the exchange prices I've been paying seems toward the lower end from what I've seen/read, I'm OK...

    CO2 cylinders

Yeah, 5 gal, but I'm not very good at keeping track how long the cylinders last and I have not brewed for a while (although made a few batches of wine). I do know a 5 doesn't last very long even with a small leak. I use the 5 mainly for serving because it fits inside the fridge along with two...

    CO2 cylinders

5lb and 20lb are pretty common sizes, and are what I have. I do tank exchanges rather than fills. Last exchange was on the 5lb and it cost me just shy of $17. It's been quite a while since I exchanged the 20lb but from memory it was only like $5 - $6 more than the 5lbr, but it's 4x the amount...

    Degas necessary?

Kegged 5 gal, bottled 2) 1L and 4) 500ml. No degas, no finings. Looked pretty flat from anything I saw. Will see how it goes down the road.

    Degas necessary?

I've had a finished wine sitting in carboy since mid-July. At that time I mixed in potassium sorbate and potassium metabisulphite in amounts per the kit instructions, but just stirred in, did not use a degassing whip. As it sits it looks crystal clear to me and no noticeable bubbles anywhere...

Looking for opinions on my next grill

I have one cylinder left of the real/original MAPP gas. That's reserved for special occasions, mainly plumbing related, where higher heat or faster heating is needed but still in the propane torch style/form factor.

Gas v Electric Weed Whacker. Advice Please

Interesting. I've never had any battery pack last as long, in terms of durability, as a gas mower. I have an old Toro weed whacker from 1990. I still use it. The only repair it has ever needed was replacing the primer bulb that eventually got too stiff to function properly.
