    Hops Still In While Fermenting?

I guess I'm more concerned about increased IBU's.

    BIAB in a cooler?

I've never done a BIAB method, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just make sure you have a tight seal on the cooler to assure you're not going to lose a lot of heat in the mash time.

    Hops Still In While Fermenting?

I recently bought a few new 15.9 gallon fermenters with spigots built into them. The strainer I'm currently using is way to big to use on these fermenters and will most likely result in losing a lot of beer on my floor. I'm planning on just leaving the hops in the wert while fermenting but does...

First Brew - Brooklyn Brewery Everyday IPA kit

Your best bet is to give your racking cane atleast an inch to a inch and a half of space in between the beer and trub. Never disturb the trub otherwise it will get to your bottles, leaving you with a dirty, yeasty tasting beer. Leave the bottom inch or inch and a half in the fermenter and dump...

    Chocolate and beer?

Chocolate in beer is good just as long and you don't go crazy with it. For me, the right amount of chocolate will not have a chocolate taste while drinking it, but a nice chocolaty mouth-feel afterwards. It's very good is some of your stronger stouts and I've even played around with it in a...

    Fun Story

I live in a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa called Urbandale. A few years ago I moved here from my tiny home town called Knoxville, Iowa (about 8,000 people.) Today I was talking to one of my friends who still lives in the area who works at a tiny coffee shop located on the towns square. About 10am...

    Bad Yeast

You would be correct, sir! I started to notice a little krausen Wednesday night. Any idea why I have no activity in the air lock? I've got a good seal on the fermenter and haven't be opening it, other than Wednesday night.

    What is in my wort?!!!

Did you use a stopper and air lock to seal the carboy? I agree with everyone else, DO NOT attempt to drink that.

    Bad Yeast

I brewed a Honey Wheat extract kit from Austin Home Brew on Friday night. When I received the kit in the mail, I found the cold pack not cold at all and the yeast arrived at room temp. I've never had a problem with yeast before so I took the yeast out of the fridge 5 hours before I brewed and...
