    Pumpkin Ale Recipe

Tonight I'm brewing a Pumpkin Ale. Instead of an actual pumpkin however, I have cans of pureed pumpkin. Is there anything that needs to be done before I just add it to the brewpot? Most recipes I'm coming across include using actual pumpkins to roast before you puree. I also have vanilla and...

Corny Keg help needed! How to pry off a quick disconnect (gas) from the "out" post?

Do you mean hit with a hammer the part that you're supposed to be able to pull up to unlock/disconnect from the post (but won't pull up cause it's on the wrong post)? The bottom of it is the outlet post it's stuck onto and I don't think you mean to hit THAT with a hammer. I don't know if...

Corny Keg help needed! How to pry off a quick disconnect (gas) from the "out" post?

I went to my local beer & wine making store to get the gaskets replaced on my corny keg (ball lock) but unfortunately the gray quick disconnect was locked onto the "out" post by mistake (which was placed in the "in" location of the keg by mistake). Another proof that the in/out posts are...

What size secondary fermenter do you use?

I just racked to my secondary fermenter which seems to be a 6 gal carboy. Will the extra gallon head space cause a big problem? With the 5 gal carboy, it never fills all that close to the neck anyway, but still I was curious as to whether this is now too much head space?

First Brew, hoping I'm on the right track.

Thanks very much for your suggestions and help, everyone. :) I checked the recipe, and it does expect a FG of 0.019. I must have been thinking of a FG reading for a pale ale or lighter brew; I'm learning a lot from this forum already! Also, from what I'm gathering, my brew is good to go for...

First Brew, hoping I'm on the right track.

Using my new homebrew equipment (I'd been brewing with Mr. Beer over the years but now I'm set for bigger brewing), I just brewed my first beer last Saturday; a double chocolate oatmeal stout. :) It's in my primary fermenter (bucket) now, the room temp is averaging 65-70 degrees. 12 hrs...
