    BLC/ALC Kegerator Line Cleaner Question

This is from the Electric Brewery website: Every 2 weeks: Use Beer Line Cleaner (BLC) / Liquid Line Cleaner (LLC) to remove hop resins, bio-films, yeast residue, sugar build-up, bacteria, proteins, carbohydrates, and mold. This is an alkaline (high pH) cleaning. In some locations the two-week...

    BLC/ALC Kegerator Line Cleaner Question

I have done PBW then the BLC just for kicks and there is definitely still yellow color to the ALC after, does that equate to flavor, not sure?

    Kegerator Liquid Leak Detector

I made the mistake of buying these flow control faucets and there is no room for a spring, I think there is a shank you can buy with more room but was hoping they would wear out, need to drink more I guess...

    BLC/ALC Kegerator Line Cleaner Question

See attached pic, pail with the pump is water, pail in the center is BLC (yellowish), the other pail is ALC (fairly clear). BLC seems to remove so much more then ALC, am I wasting my time with the ALC? This pic was after cleaning 3 x ~10ft 3/16" lines. ALC was run first this time. I'm always...

    Kegerator Liquid Leak Detector

It isn't overly clear but one of the videos shows that the sensor on the bottom unclips and has a 6 foot cord.

    Kegerator Liquid Leak Detector

Maybe an option for $12? Amazon Sensor

    Kegerator Liquid Leak Detector

Unfortunately no name or part number on it, but yeah it is just a regular basement leak detector. I think the electrode design is key, the metal parts are ever so slightly retracted, otherwise the metal drip tray would set it off.

    Mash Thickness and Efficiency

Ummm, thanks, I think. Your simulator has left me feeling a little less intelligent.... Why on earth am I sparging on low alcohol beers? 80%+mash efficiency with AIO no sparge is more then enough for this guy. Bigger beers won't fit in my kettles as I usually do 12 gallon batches, but lower...

    Kegerator Liquid Leak Detector

Many moons ago I was living in a Saudi Arabia and built one of the first kegerator's that I was aware of. It was no small task, I traded 4 hours of immigration paperwork with a Somalian Pepsi employee to get the kegs and had a nurse "borrow" medical grade C02. Back then 120V small fridges were...

    Mash Thickness and Efficiency

I suppose just batch sparging is one way to avoid it all. Repeating in my head "adding water isn't cheating, adding water isn't cheating"...... repeat!

    Mash Thickness and Efficiency

Thanks Sibelman, so if I understand you correctly you are saying everyone sparges past 1.008/1.010 when doing low SG beers. ETA: Within the context of my original question :)

    Mash Thickness and Efficiency

You are right I misunderstood, thank you, so you are proposing everyone goes past 1.008 on low SG beers? ETA: Within the context of my original question :-)

    Mash Thickness and Efficiency

Stopping sparging earlier will make it worse, everything you say is true at higher SGs. I can't get below 1.040, and it isn't an efficiency issue either.

    Mash Thickness and Efficiency

No, you'll just hit a lower preboil volume (ETA assuming you keeping the mash thickness the same), I struggled with adding that to the question because it is the first thing people think of. So maybe for clarity I should add, for a "defined preboil volume", but I don't think that matters for...

    Mash Thickness and Efficiency

Hmm, I realize this is an old post, but figure it was the best context for this question. I struggled trying to make the question clear...er...est.... Assuming we are fly sparging, stopping at 1.008, 1.25 qt/lb mash thickness (limitation of my system) and need to boil for an hour (even a zero...
