You might want to make sure you aren't creating a krausen grenade. With my first brew, the lid to my primary bucket was probably seconds from exploding when I woke up in the morning. When I pulled the airlock to relieve the pressure, krausen shot out like volcanic dust and continued to spew...
I do not know a actual recommended time, but I believe the star san should remain effective for several months. At least absent contamination from trying to sanitize products that are still dirty.

You will probably want to use a slow flow rate. Give the water flowing through the chiller a chance to soak up the heat. You will get very slightly better performance with a higher flow rate, but at a cost of using vastly more water. Especially when you are using the pond pump and ice water...
