    Making a Brewing Software

Hello there fellow homebrewers, I am a current MIS major/ homebrewer and I thought making a beer app would be the best way to hone my skills. I wanted to pick y'all's brains for some good ideas to include. Right now my app just stores critical data to a database and also uses it to calculate...

Getting an original gravity from a final gravity reading.

They were 1.025 and 12.1 brix. Not quite done yet but this beer is somehow ok after mashing to high. Couldn't get the mash temp down very fast so the original brix said 22 post boil. It was only supposed to be about 1.070 as an IPA but came in at 1.088 if the refractometer is correct. I had an...

Getting an original gravity from a final gravity reading.

Jumped the gun in my dry hop.

Hello fellow homebrewers, a question. I guess out laziness, I decided to not move my yellow rose IPA clone to the secondary. It's been fermenting for 5 days at a friends house, so we set this as the day to take a reading and dry hop. The airlock was bubbling every three seconds so I knew it...

Growing Hops in Central Texas (Austin)

I live in south Houston, closer to Galveston. I started a Brewers gold and a Mt. Hood about the same time as you. My Brewers Gold took off and got to about 15 feet. It's on its 3rd and final harvest. My mount hood has been slow going because the first 3 feet or so it was covered from the sun...

    High Gravity 100% Brett stalled

Might be a silly question because I am still learning, but wouldn't you want to halt fermentation on that? If it is in fact still going down in Gravity wouldn't you want to put some potassium sorbate in it or cold crash so you don't lose all your body?

    First mead batch

New to mead making and had a question. I racked from my primary to secondary and the mead looks perfect but smells very hot when I got close to it. It was in primary for 3 weeks and fermented in the normal time. Will it calm down with age? Or is it to soon to tell?
