    ranco probe in airlock?

Thanks for the replys. I think I will try that next time. I had never considered not using an airlock, but suppose the posative pressure once fermentation starts would prevent anything from getting inside. Just for the record, I have had the probe in the airlock with out the lid piece, and I...

    ranco probe in airlock?

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought it would fit through the hole in the airlock. I imagine space would be tight though and the likely hood of having some gunk come up during high krauzen and end up with a clog would be high. Never have any problems with that? Thanks for the idea!

    ranco probe in airlock?

Curious, anyone put their temperature control probe directly in the airlock? I would think it would get an accurate reading of the temp inside the bucket. The reason I don't want to tape it to the side of the bucket is that there is very little clearance in the refrigerator and this would put...

tap 1/2 barrel keg on 1/6 barrel set up

I have a 3 tap kegerator for cornys, but was thinking of buying a 15.5 gallon keg of Blue Moon as I love that beer and am too busy to brew for the time being. I've only ever seen the pump tap, picnic style on the big kegs. What kind of fittings do they use to hook up to co2 and a real tap?

infected beer still contain same amount of alcohol?

Thanks for the relpys. I do try and brew fine craft beer, but this one seems to have some degree of infection. Tastes less than great, but not entirely terrible either. Therefore I won't be drinking this beer for taste and would feel stupid drinking through it if it was non alcoholic. When in...

infected beer still contain same amount of alcohol?

I am drinking through five gallons of homebrew that seems to be a little infected. Im wondering if the bacteria is changing the abv in a negative way, wich would give me no incentive to drink it. I can't quite tell if its getting me drunk or not, because I can only have one pint between pints of...

back and forth between soda and beer?

Kinda what I figured. I guess it's easy/cheap enough to change out the grommets and hoses and save those ones for if I get another root beer keg. As always, I appreciate your responses.

back and forth between soda and beer?

I have a three tap kegorator and just filled one with a root beer for the first time. I remember having to change out all the rubber grommets when I first bought the keg and was wondering if I will need to do that after I kick this 5 gallons of root beer and go back to the good stuff. Also any...

Pitching yeast from local brew pub

So I wanted to try using some yeast from my favorite micro brew pub and left a sterilized 64 oz growler with the brew master and he filled it half way full with a second generation N.W. ale yeast from thier scotch ale which happens to be my favorite beer they make. Now I wanted to use this for...

Why can't I brew a good wit beer?

Thanks for all the responces. Edmanster you bring up a good point, I hadn't considered the 30 min. steep at flameout and how it might effect things. I will do away with that as well as use all wheat extract next time. Also I know a lot of AG wit recipes use specificly white wheat, has anyone...
