Relax, Don't Worry, Grab a beer... I did my first lager a few weeks ago and I used Bavarian Wheat Lager Yeast. It took 12 days for it to start fermentation. Lager yeast takes longer to ferment, it's not as aggressive as ale, so just relax and have a homebrew!
Hello there, I'm planning on brewing an Eisbock pretty soon. Have any of you tried it? Any suggestions? I was doing some research and it says that the IBUs should be at least 25 IBUs. Basically I'm brewing a Doppelbock and then freezing it, I'm hoping to remove 1 gallon off ice. My recipe says...
So I'm brewing my first lager, is a Doppelbock. Brew day was on Monday October 3rd. 7 days later I don't see any activity yet so I decided to do some research about the yeast. The yeast that I got was Wyeast Bavarian Lager, but after reading reviews of people having trouble with that particular...
...I don't have Brewer Gold hops. This is the list of hops that I have, which one can I use to substitute:
Cascade, Centennial, Columbus, East Kent Goldings, Hallertauer Mittelfrueh, Styrian Goldings, Tettnang and Willamette.
A few weeks ago I brewed a Belgian Quad, and according to the recipe that I created I decided to add 2 lbs of Candi Sugar 48 hours after pitching the yeast. My OG was really low 1.069 and according to my calculator 2 lbs of Candi Sugar would add 14 points. So I'm assuming my OG would be 1.083...
I have made candi sugar with regular table (cane) sugar before, using a guide that I found here. My question is, would I be able to use the same process but using Date and Beet Sugars? I just want the candi sugar to taste as close to the real thing, and the sugar in Belgium comes from Beet, and...
Thanks so much for your help. I'm already mashing the first beer. One question, what would happen if I add, let's say, 8oz of Candi Sugar to the parti-gyle beer. Would it make it too sweet? Or should I just go ahead and give it a try
Well I'm not really aiming for certain OG. I'm assuming it's going to be around 1.030ish and I'm thinking the batch size is going to be 4 gallons (2 gallons from each wort). It's a little bit confusing but I want to give it a try. Planning on adding flaked oats, Malto-Dextrin and a few ounces of...
Ok my friends. I'm going to be brewing 2 beers tomorrow: one is going to be a Belgian Quad and the other one a Belgian Golden Strong Ale. I was reading about parti-gyle brewing and how possible would it be for my to combine the 3rd runnings from each wort and make a lower alcohol beer...
Hey guys!
I'm pretty new to All Grain, and I have decided to just brew Belgians. I already got the ingredients and everything, and was planning on doing 4 brews with the same yeast: Belgian Abbey Ale and I'm planning on brewing in this order:
* Belgian Blonde Ale 6.1% ABV Estimate
*...
Hey guys
I'm planning on doing an Apple Cider. I'm going to do 2 gallons. Then after is done fermenting and before bottling I'm planning on adding Apple Juice to make it a little bit sweeter and not too strong. Any idea on how much extra juice to put and what would be my alcohol percentage...
