Oh I should probably add that I put Campden in the half of the wort that I didn't boil.
I figured it might help a little at killing some microorganisms.
this was all on the fly, no recipe, no plan.
I'll think ahead next time

I have heard of no boil Berliners that turn out quite nicely though. I'm hoping this turns out as a pleasantly sour surprise.
I honestly wasn't even thinking when I skipped the boil. I'll keep ya'll updated.
Does anybody know if this beer, if it's even drinkable, will go bad faster...
Just tasted it, it tastes a tad sour. It fermented to 1.00
I'm going to go ahead and bottle it tonight.
Since I didn't boil a portion of the wort, will the beer go bad/develop nasty flavors sooner than a full boiled brew?

So I did a 6 gallon smash recipe, 20lbs maris otter, 6-7 oz cascade.
I only had enough kettle space to boil half of the wort. I took half of the sweet wort straight from the mash tun into primary, and I boiled the other half with the hops and then put that in the fermenter with it.
It has...
Okay. I definitely need to upgrade to a kettle that's big enough but for now I don't have a burner, I'm just going off the stove which struggles to bring 3 gallons to a boil in the first place.
Will the beer be overwhelmingly sour or pleasantly sour?

As long as it is safe and drinkable I'll be okay with it and learn from my mistakes. It was kind of an experiment anyway.
15lbs marris otter
4oz cascade
I wasn't even going for any specific style so I had no expectations for how it would turn out.
Will it be safe to drink at least?

Jon,
For the first half of the wort it went straight into my fermenter with no boil and no hops
The second half I boiled with the hops.
This was all within a 2 hour period.
Is it bad that the first half of the wort never reached a boil before going into the fermenter?

So i was halfway through my first all grain batch when I realized I didn't have enough kettle space to boil the whole 6 gallon sweet wort.
I put 3 gallons of the unhopped wort straight from my beverage cooler Mash tun into my glass carboy and added 3 Campden tablets.
I proceeded to boil the...
So I undershot my mash volume and ended up with 3 gallons of an absurdly hoppy wort in the fermenter.
My recipe was a pale/Citra smash. 8oz of Citra in about 2.5-3 gallons of wort.
The wort is hoppy to the point where my throat wants to close up. Should I pitch the yeast anyway? Add water...
Does anybody see any possible problems with this recipe? Hopefully going for a big IPA. I want it to be relentlessly hoppy and really showcase the great aroma and flavors of the Citra hops, which is why I picked pale malt.
15lbs pale 2 row
7 oz Citra pellet hops
Also what would be a good hop...
for my first all grain brew with my new beverage cooler MLT I'm thinking I'm going to use this recipe. any advice or criticism? I'm not sure of my brewhouse efficiency yet.
14 lbs. pale 2 row
10 oz crystal 2 row
2.5 oz cascade (60 min)
1 oz cascade (40 min)
1.5 oz cascade (25 min)
