    Water Profile

Awesome that's exactly the simplicity that i was looking for. So when exactly would I add the gypsum? I assume prior to the mash, when I'm starting to heat the water. Any suggestions for the little bit of top up water at the end? Thanks again for you response, definitely helpful.

    Water Profile

Hey guys. Just wanted input on my local water profile and if I should be doing anything to it to improve the final product of my beers. I generally make APA and IPA. Sometimes DIPA too. I am working with Partial Mash recipes (50-60% grains and 40-50% dry extract). I generally have to top up...

    Jalapeno Beer

Awesome thanks dmtaylor! I'll give that a try. I definitely want a bit of heat, so I'll make sure to by about 10 peppers, then follow your instructions. Looking forward to this experiment!

    Jalapeno Beer

I'm going to bring back this dead thread. Is there any updated way to get some heat and slight flavour from Jalapeno's in beer? I've been looking around and have found some, but I'm more looking for during the secondary stage around the same time as dry hopping. I made my beer yesterday and...

    Ringwood Yeast / Galaxy Hops

I also want the Galaxy hops to be the show. Will Ringwood take over as the show? Maybe I'll just use US-05.

    Ringwood Yeast / Galaxy Hops

I was planning to mash at 148. How would 151-152 help and in what way?

    Ringwood Yeast / Galaxy Hops

No unfortunately not... I don't have many options living in a small apt with my wife and kid. Lucky to have enough room to brew. I've always got great reviews on my beer, but rarely have I used liquid yeast and I've never used Ringwood. US-05 is my go to.

    Ringwood Yeast / Galaxy Hops

Okay I didn't have any Dextrose in the recipe, so I just did a little alteration with it to put about 5.5% in. Unfortunately for me with my current set up, I have to ferment at room temperature of our APT. Right now in the basement I have been fermenting at around 21.5C, so about 71F. Will...

    Ringwood Yeast / Galaxy Hops

I've never used either of these ingredients, but I have a bunch of Galaxy right now. I was thinking of taking the Mirror Pond Ale Clone and just substituting the Cascade hops for my Galaxy hops. What are your thoughts? Will Galaxy pair well with Ringwood? Thanks!

    Which water agents are neccessary

Alright thanks! I'm pretty sure it is Chlorine in our water so I will try leaving it out over night before brewing the next day. I'm going to go with the assumption that it should be open to air? lid off?

    Which water agents are neccessary

Hey so I'm just beginning to look into adjusting my tap water profile which is: pH: 7.3 Calcium: 3.9ppm Magnesium: 0.4ppm Sodium: 16.0ppm Sulfate: 7.7 ppm Chloride: 8.8 ppm Bicarbonate: 22.5 ppm I'm wanting to start simple since this is all foreign to me, so I was thinking of using: 5.2 pH...

Pin lock vs. ball lock kegs

Thanks for all the input. Too hard to get around here unfortunately, and although I know you can convert Cornelius keg into sanke connections, I think I'm just going to sell these connections and go the cornelius option. Seems the better route for me in all aspects even though it will cost a...

Pin lock vs. ball lock kegs

That makes sense then considering they were given to me and the guy worked at a sports stadium. So are commercial kegs much larger i'm going to assume? I'm looking to convert a mini fridge into a double keg/tap kegerator.

Pin lock vs. ball lock kegs

Hey so I just got these keg connectors and am wondering if anyone knows if they are ball or pin lock. I am starting to collect items to start kegging, so I am new to this as I've been bottling for years. I think the are ball lock, there is a ball inside, so makes sense to think that, but just...
