Got free bottles to give away? Post 'em here!

Seven cases of bottles to a good home. (All clean; some delabeled, most not.)

    Somerset Homebrew Club

I've run into at least half a dozen homebrewers here without trying. The size of the club is immaterial to me. As I said, I don't like driving around here that much, especially at night. Others clearly do. I don't fully understand your objections. I doubt we'd steal any members from WHALES...

    Somerset Homebrew Club

I don't like NJ traffic. I prefer something more local, especially if I'm going to taste some homebrew.

    Somerset Homebrew Club

There are a couple of us in the Somerville (NJ) area thinking of starting a new homebrew club. Are there any denizens of HBT in the area who would be interested?

Wine for a beer drinker. Because I don't already spend enough money.

When I first got into (craft) beer seriously, I had a blast just tasting at least one of every style. Then I got into wine, and I've been having a similar blast trying as many varieties of grapes as possible. Unlike the beer world, in the wine world, there's a far greater variance between...

It's official, I'm having heart surgery on Feb 18th...wow, it's real now.

Best of luck, revvy. Don't forget to promise your surgeons some homebrew, to be delivered only after successful recovery!

    What did I just do?

Your new beer will be stronger, since 4lb DME =/= 4lb LME (generally, you need .8lb DME for 1lb LME). Of course, the steeping grains will create a different beer. I've never used the Essex Ale yeast, but it has similar attenuation to the London Ale yeast, so depending on fermentation temps, that...

    potassium metabisulfite

The answer is that you don't have to use the sulfite as a sanitizer. Since you homebrew, and you've got other sanitizers, you can use those just as well, especially for the kits. As truckjohn says, the sulfites will kill off wild yeasts on the skins of fruit, if you're making wine directly from...

Which capper do you all recommend? - reviews are so mixed

For bottling, I have to agree with Gregscsu. I never could get a wing capper to work right. I also can't golf.
