    Boston Brewpubs or Bars

+1 on this. great places... there's also a store right there called Publick House Provisions that carriers a wide range of craft beers that can be hard to find anywhere else, perfect to take something unique back to the hotel. They are all directly off the Washington Sq stop on the Green C line

    1st time label results....

Very nice....looks like someone beat you to that design though: http://www.hookerbeer.com/beers/ Thomas Hooker, its a pretty decent little brewery here in CT.

Book about the types of beer

I learned a good deal about the different styles and brewing in general, from "Tasting Beer" by Randy Mosher.

    Dry hop temp question

Yeah just keep the temp how it is. No need to sanitize hops or anything

    First Wine-Making error...

ok. Should i stir well as I did when originally topping off? I know with beer its not good to disturb it during fermentation....I don't know how much of that applies to wine making.

    First Wine-Making error...

so I began my first wine this past thursday, a Vino Del Vida chardonnay kit. I was looking at the kits instructions today, and realized I only topped off to the 5 gallon mark on my fermenter...the directions said 5 imp gal/6 US gallons and I just skimmed it quickly and only noticed the "5". my...

    Help! Kolsh Brewers

I just cracked the first bottle of a Kolsch batch I brewed last month. I fermented at around 65-70 and left it at that temperature for a couple weeks. I'm very pleased with how the beer came out...Lagering it after fermentation would add a more crisp taste, but it is not necessary to produce a...

    Deodorizing a used freezer

how long did you leave the baking soda in there for? In my experience, it can take a while for it to really clear out the odor. I'd leave it in, at least until someone provides a better solution!

More proof that Beer IS good for you...

It sounds like they mean its just better to have water/fruit right after a workout as opposed to a beer - not that you shouldn't drink beer altogether. There's not too many people who would argue that beer is better for you right after working out. I think the point they were trying to make...

    Honey Kolsch + Citrus

Great to hear! Mine is coming up on 2 weeks in the bottles, I'll give one a try and most likely put them away for another week or two. I put in zest of 2 oranges and one lemon into the end of the boil, so I'll let you know how it goes!

using cling wrap instead of an air lock

They can be a hassle to get on and off, especially when new. Or I guess if you lose a lid somehow? Either way, I agree...they are made to be used!

    Bottle conditioning

definitely stir, I kinda just gently stir with the siphoning tube as everything is being transferred and have never had a problem. but as far as your method, wouldn't adding the 2nd half of the priming solution make too much of a splash? i know i try to avoid any kind of splashing so oxygen...

    ok to transfer?

yeah I was planning on leaving them in for just 5 or 6 days. thanks for the tips!

    ok to transfer?

I have an oz of hallertau pellets and an oz of saaz whole hops lying around. I was considering doing a 1/2 oz of one or the other. I have never dry hopped so I appreciate the advice...do you think both of those would be overpowering?
