    Grapefruit White IPA

I don't usually share recipes but this one was SO good I had to share. It was kind of an accident as I had pre-bagged my grains but had them weighed wrong. When I realized this during mash I changed plans to make this IPA from an American wheat beer. Ingredients: American 2-row - 6.9 lbs...

    Florida Complete Starter Kit

I have a complete setup that I need to get rid of. I will let the entire kit go for $85. I won't ship but will meet someone a fair distance from Freeport FL. Kit includes the following: 8 gallon kettle with two weldless fittings. One has thermometer the other has valve. The kettle also has...

American Pale Ale Nail Pale Ale

I have been tweaking this. I made variations of it with Nottingham and US-05. I wanted to try it with a little higher FG and the S-04 accomplished. The other two versions were good, the S-04 version was great. There were also some small changes to grist and hops as well. The bottom line is I...

American Pale Ale Nail Pale Ale

I have been working on a house pale ale and finally came up with this recipe and it's exactly what I was looking for. It's a bit hoppy but not so much as it to hide it's malty sweet awesomeness. 5 gallon batch OG 1.055 FG 1.012 ABV 5.9% IBU 44 SRM 9.0 Efficiency 71% Fermentables 9...

Did I ruin my pale ale

This ended up being my best brew to date. It is fantastic! Sometimes luck is better than skill.

Did I ruin my pale ale

Somehow I managed to run completely out of homebrew. I picked up all the ingredients to do 5 gallons of my house pale ale and 5 gallons of cream ale to brew this past Saturday. I started heating strike water and ran out of gas. Off to the store I went to trade a tank. Cool. Back to heating...

    Pale Ale recipe review

I have nothing fermenting and only about a 6er of home brew remaining so I have got to brew something this weekend. I am looking to create a house pale ale and I like beers that have some maltiness to them. I have 6 lb of Vienna, 1 oz Cascade, and 1 oz Amarillo that I need to use up. This is the...

5 weeks in bottle strange taste

My first brew was Cream of Three crops. This brew was good at two weeks in the bottle, better at 3 weeks, and started declining at 4 weeks. At 5 weeks it has a bit of a strange taste. I'm not sure how to describe it. It isn't bitter, kind of a bit like a sourness that lingers after a taste. The...

    Nottingham temp

I am brewing a Blue Moon clone tomorrow and I have a pack of Notty that I am planning to pitch. My fermentation chamber is usually kept at 68 degrees. Is this too high? Should I drop it to 60 - 64? I am wanting to avoid the esters so that the hops, orange, and coriander shine through.

    What is this

That describes it perfectly. I have seen this in my first two brews but to to a far less extent than this brew. Thanks for the info - I feel much better now.

    What is this

So I did my third all grain batch this weekend, an SNPA clone. Everything went well. I mashed at 152 for one hour. I recirculated several quarts until clear and then sparged with 180 degree water. The mash in the brew kettle had no debris and no grain particles that could be seen. After about...
