    Cheaper to buy or brew?

    I'm very close to what JNye has. I've spent a total of $1022 on equipment, ingredients, books and whatnot. Have brewed around 46 Gallons of beer (in about three months) so I come out at around $2 a 12 oz bottle. I'll be very happy if I can get it down to $1 a bottle and achieve a high standard...

    Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Nectar

    Bottled this last night. Ended up using 2.5 tsp of the faerie's hazelnut extract for 3.5 gallons of beer. Everything tasted spot on, though a little the thin side I felt. OG 1.051, FG 1.011. 4 weeks in primary and then bottled. Will try one in three weeks.

    Does trub/cold-break affect SG readings?

    I'm guessing because the trub/cold-break is not in solution then it should not affect the SG of the wort. Is that correct? If so, then does that mean that any proteins left in solution do contribute to the SG? Or are proteins so much lighter than sugars as to not be a factor? However, if...
