    First time to keg

I just kegged my first about 3 weeks ago on a 5lb tank. From what I've read you should be able to carbonate and feed five or so kegs on a single tank. Mine was a mild so it had little carb to it. (2.4 Vols) It did seem to have a more draft like quality to the beer and the bubbles seemed smaller...

    Louisville, KY CO2 sources

I had the same problem this past week. I found a fire extinguisher service company and they were able to fill my 5lb for $10. You might want to try the same or a store that sells paintball supplies.

New CO2 Refill near Chicago O'Hare

Just found a new place near O'hare that fills CO2 tanks. It's a small father/son op. They just set up their operation and Andrew(?) said they will be expanding into selling small tanks. Got a tank filled yesterday. Service was great and they were very friendly. $10 for a 5lb refill. Service...

    Homebrew Store in Nashville TN

The wife and I are giving some thought to opening a HB store in the Murfreesboro TN area. I know Rebel is north of Nashville but there does not seem to be a store serving the southern area. We wanted to start laying out a business plan so any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Pale Malt Efficiency

Sorry bout that. Maris Otter as a base along with some crystal and chocolate malt for an English Mild. Thanks for the input. I did use the same equip/technique with both but being a newbie I opted to use extract with my first attempt with the mash tun just in case I did have efficiency...

    Pale Malt Efficiency

I have just begun my AG adventure and had a question about pale malt. Both times I have used pale malt in my partial grain brews I have had low efficiency problems (50%-55%). The last batch I brewed (1st all grain attempt) used Maris Otter malt as a base and some specialty malts and I hit 75%...

    Adding LME after pitching...

Not really sure about "hoping to get 1.050-1.055".The style of beer should determine the OG and FG. If you were shooting for that OG by adding extra DME to the boil and forgot you could add it now (assuming what nefarious said is taken into consideration). I read that DME should be sterile but I...

    BeerSmith

I've used the temp guides in BS and have found that they are very close to real results. I have been using Deathbrewers' stove top mash method and the last two brews have come out great. Don't sweat the exactness of the temps your beer will come out fine. You'll be able to fine tune your temps...

    Blonde Ale

Thanks I'm going to bring the boil time down to 50min along with the hops. That should give me a 19.9 IBU. I'll keep the updates coming.

    Blonde Ale

OG 1.051 FG 1.013 IBU 21.5 Color Est: 4.3 SRM (BeerSmith) The Centennial recipe sounds like a winning brew that I will have to try. I was thinking just the single hops addition based on a podcast I just listened to and the idea of learning more about hop character. Cascade as a finishing...
