    Another "help me please" thread

My mash PH is usually in the range of 5.5 for this IPA, I measure about 10 minutes into the mash. If I add 1g per gallon Gypsum to bring up my Calcium and Sulfate to the Pale Ale profile, the calculator recommends the Chloride not be at the upper limit. This may be why whenever i have added...

    Another "help me please" thread

I recently received a judges comment regarding an IPA I had submitted that "the water doesn't play well with the Hops". I assume the reference was that my profile was not optimized for an IPA so I am asking those in the know what should be done. The beer actually did very well, this was a...

    Kettle sour question

Just to follow-up. The beer tastes like a 102 degree sacc ferment, not nice. And surprisingly, US-05 only took it from 1.030 to 1.016? And it measured a ph of 3.8 and it doesn't really taste sout/tart at all... I'm gonna dump it and try again this weekend, any suggestions for a successful brew...

    Kettle sour question

I wasn't' sure what to expect and when I took the lid off and the saran wrap back, I was surprised to see a slightly foamy top and it was churning away, just like a sacc ferment. That's correct, it is labelled White Labs. Well it looks like I'll have a 2.9% Sour Brown. Thw wort tasted...

    Kettle sour question

I brewed my first kettle soured beer over the weekend and have a few questions regarding some of my gravity readings. Here is what I did. Mashed a Brown ale recipe, sparged and collected 7 gallons of 1.050 pre-boil wort. Boiled for 15 min. and IC cooled to 100 degrees Inoculated with L. Brevis...

    3 BBL RIMS Control panel

I have looked into this as well. I found the brewmation panels pretty expensive. I have talked to another brewer and they are built very very well however. I also spoke to Ryan at ebrewsupply and even though it's not listed in his website he makes large panels that have the capability you are...

Element (2) placement for 55 gallon Boilermaker

I'm getting ready to install the elements in my boil kettle and was thinking of putting them at 10 and 2, the first just off the bottom of the kettle and the second just above it. I'd like them low in the kettle so I can begin to heat the wort at the start of the sparge, after they are covered...
