I'm getting ready to install the elements in my boil kettle and was thinking of putting them at 10 and 2, the first just off the bottom of the kettle and the second just above it.
I'd like them low in the kettle so I can begin to heat the wort at the start of the sparge, after they are covered of course, but am curious if i should raise 'em up some in order to better form a trub pile at the whirlpool stage.

The Blichmann kettle does have a "dished" bottom, so maybe thats enough?

Opinions please, and thanks.

Positioning really isn't that important. As long as they're submerged and not in the way of each other (or other things in the kettle) and you can get at them to clean, you're good. Usually about 3-4" off the bottom works.

Good luck!
