Co-pitch Roeselare, WL Sour Blend, YB Melange for solara?

Apologies for never updating this thread… Life got ahead of me. I brewed the following on 4/25/15: 15 lbs - 50% - wheat malt 15 lbs - 50% - pilsner Water profile was built from RO to (these additions were added to the boil): 80 ppm sulfate 40 ppm chloride 55 ppm calcium Mashed at...

7 foot trellis - what will happen?

I didn't trim any shoots. My most vigorous growers (Cascade, Chinook, and Zeus) had 3-4 bines growing per string for a total of ~12 bines each. Make sure you space them out; when they get to the top they will continue to grow multiple feet in the air and reach out and cover anything they get in...

7 foot trellis - what will happen?

Here's what mine did last year with 7': https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showpost.php?p=6812874&postcount=7

    how to get two harvests?

Last year I cut down my Chinook plant to harvest and it grew a new set of bines and cones before dieing back. Note: I live in a place has no winter and gets more than 300 days of sun per year... This equates to a very long growing season. I've also read that you can cut off the side arms with...

Co-pitch Roeselare, WL Sour Blend, YB Melange for solara?

I agree with Miles. I've had their Farmer's Reserve series and Dogpatch Sour and don't remember tasting any diacetyl. I found a Mikkeller sour so I'm adding that to the list. I would still like to get my hands on dregs from both Cantillion and 3 Fonteinen before brewing. I'm undecided on grain...

    2015 Hop garden photo thread

Pictures of the new 11' trellis for my 12 second year plants and the 18 new first year varieties (I went kinda nuts this year because last year was so much fun!). Looking forward to a big harvest from the second years and finding places on my property for the new plants... The Cascade is already...

Co-pitch Roeselare, WL Sour Blend, YB Melange for solara?

I've had many commercial sour/wild beers so I know what I enjoy, but I've never made or tasted homebrewed sour beer so I don't know what to expect from each microbe source... I've decided to put aside the sanke keg and take a 6-12 month detour from the solara idea. Instead I'm going to brew a...

Co-pitch Roeselare, WL Sour Blend, YB Melange for solara?

Are there any benefits (or negatives) to co-pitching multiple commercial sour blends? I'm starting a 15 gallon sanke keg solara with the eventual goal of being able to pull/replace 5 gallons every 6 months. I also plan to pitch dregs from 6 different breweries. Can you have too much bio-diversity?

How small can you grow hops.

Don't let anyone tell you hops can't be grown in a small area! Though far from optimal I grew 8 varieties last year in the "backyard" of a condo that wasn't much larger than 6'x18' in 1/2 barrel pots. Each plant had 3 7' strings (plus the post) to grow and due to surrounding buildings only had a...

Availability of Cashmere, Neo1, and Multihead?

The supplier I pre-ordered Tahoma from fell through. Did this happen to anyone else? I called a few stores that originally had Tahoma listed and they had the same problem with rhizomes never being delivered. Anyone have an extra Tahoma rhizome they are willing to sell or trade?

Availability of Cashmere, Neo1, and Multihead?

I'm interested in growing the more recently available (to homebrewers) hop varieties. I've been able to find Sorachi Ace, Tahoma, etc., but have had less luck with Cashmere, Neo1, and Multihead. Does anyone know of a source for any of these varieties or is anyone willing to trade? Thanks!
