My dog pulled up my hops rhizome

My puppy pulled a rhizome out of the ground. The vine that was green was beyond saving. I found the rhizome in the yard, and it doesn't look like it was chewed. I just put it back in the ground. Is this thing going to grow again?

    How tight is your twine?

I looped mine around the stake at the ground with an adjustable slipknot(?). Basically, I can adjust the slack by moving the knot up or down the main line. Should I just wait for the hops to get tall enough to catch the twine? Right not its like I'm fishing for the hops. I dangle the slack...

Should I buy a starter kit or not?

I have to give credit to this forum for turning me on to the Royal Palm Restaurant & Event Supply sale. 40qt aluminum kettle for around $35 shipped.:)

Should I buy a starter kit or not?

For someone who only has a burner, empty bottles and 10gal kettle, are the starter kits really a savings? Most packaged starter kits relative to hobby starters are a collection of generic low quality products. Is the same true for the homebrew kits found on AHB, NB and Midwest? Should I just...

    Refrigerator for Fermentation

Is that a freezer or fridge? I just got an OLD fridge with the freezer on top. WIll these temp controllers work on an old fridge/freezer stack model?

    Will this be safe?

I have a burner similar to this one I just got the 40qt pot from Palm. The diameter of the bottom is greater than the diameter of the prongs. The pot rests on the prongs that are attached to the vent/bowl that houses the burner. My concern is all that weight will be distributed at those 6...

    Refrigerator from 1987

Today I picked up a Kenmore Coldspot (freezer on top, fridge on bottom) on the cheap. Plan on using it for my brewing needs (possible kegerator). When I checked it at the ladies house, it looked rough, but I saw no sign of leakage/water damage. It had clearly been in her garage and in use...

    home-built immersion wort chiller

noticed you went with the 1/4" instead of the usual 3/8". Is there a reason why? Which is more efficient in cooling? I plan on doing full 5gal boils. I just got back from Lowe's with 20' of 3/8".

    Pump Question

It pulls slush? I'm just wanting to pull water. Do you just lock the drill in place? Does it damage the drill? I'm hoping it will just need to run for about 10-15 minutes. For $10 I think I'm going to give it a try.

    Pump Question

What about pond pumps like this one? Is there a certain GPH I should look for?

    Pump Question

Still in the planning stages. My kettle is in route. As soon as it arrives, I am going to fabricate an immersion chiller using a 20-25' copper coil (ribcage design). I also want to incorporate a pump and ice water bucket to recirculate the water. The question is waht kind of pump will be...
