    Using gelatine in kegs

I'll add that the method BigFloyd is my preferred method, too. It provides the best results, but I still get really good results from doing it in the keg, too. Either way I, what I've done is stir 1/2 tsp of gelatin into 150 degree water (careful not to go much warmer!). Then dump that into...

    Using gelatine in kegs

I just did exactly this with incredible results. I typically try to gelatin in Primary but in a pinch doing it in the keg works great! I'll try to post pics tomorrow.

Pale Ale - Sanity Check Please

Thanks everyone! I'm going to follow Yooper's advice and see how that turns out. I'll adjust from there in the next batch. As always appreciate the quick and thorough responses from all.

Pale Ale - Sanity Check Please

If I remove the lime, the estimated pH is 5.3. I was adding the lime to get the bicarbonates up to raise that pH. Bad move?

Pale Ale - Sanity Check Please

I'll be making a Pale Ale this weekend based on Yooper's house Pale Ale recipe. I'm using the Bru'n Water spreadsheet, Pale Ale profile. Can someone review the attached screenshots for sanity checks? The amount of lime and calculated final bicarbonate number gives me a little concern.

Thermostat probe in fermentation chamber (freezer)?

I have a freezer with a Ranco thermostat to maintain proper fermentation temperature. From reading many, many threads on here it sounds like most folks tape the thermostat probe to the side of the carboy/bucket/whatever. Is there a better way? To date, I've just thrown the probe in next to...

Rebel Brewer - Hold the Cone Kit

It's pellet (which I always use). I think that's just a stock picture. Yup, I adjusted the recipe to the AAs I received - but that's a very large discrepancy...

Rebel Brewer - Hold the Cone Kit

I'm brewing the Rebel Brewer "Hold the Cone" kit right now. The website says: ALL GRAIN VERSION OG 1.049 IBU 40 SRM (color) 5.5 Alc. % 5.2 But when I put it into Beersmith, it says 70.4 IBUs. I suspect a not-so-accurate IBU estimation from the whirlpool additions, but anyone have...

    Mosaic IPA - Critique please?

What do you guys think of this recipe for an IPA? Really trying to let the Mosaic hops shine (never used them, reading good things about them). Thoughts? Recipe Specifications -------------------------- Boil Size: 8.00 gal Post Boil Volume: 6.50 gal Batch Size (fermenter): 5.50 gal...

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

So I brewed this 12 days ago, OG 1.084, using irish ale yeast (wlp004). Just tested it today and it's about at 1.030.... definitely too sweet. I just roused the yeast (gently of course) and am hoping to eek out about 5ish points... any other suggestions?

    Charleston home brew equipment?

Only HCB for grain. Decent hop selection and usually pretty fresh too. White labs yeast only and their selection varies and is usually pretty limited. I've had good and bad experiences ranging from wrong quantities to saying they have something on the website when they don't. Great people...

    Regulator slowly rises in pressure?

I kinda thought this was the case. Are these repair kits specific to the brand of the regulator? Or are they fairly generic?

    Regulator slowly rises in pressure?

Sorry, I'm doing a terrible job at explaining this. Beer isn't hooked up. There is a hose connected to this problematic regulator with a pin lock connector on the other end. Valve is completely off (unscrewed til it's very loose), yet the pressure as read on the guage will rise from zero to...
