We are also in Boynton and brew pretty much every week in the summer. We spend a lot of time at the Bx. Maybe we've seen you there. PGA National hosted a "Craft beer and burger bash" this past Saturday that was pretty cool--the Draughtsmen were there.
Would love to know a welder!! Perhaps...
Did you put your spices & all in with the boil??
I had a "something" a while back with some watermelon that turned rank. It was suggested to me that I ought to have pasteurized the watermelon.
The boil will kill any nasties.
Good Luck!!!
Sarah.
I posted this same dilemma when I started brewing. I still find it impossible to not drink/not share so much that I run out. The best advice is to get several fermenters (I scored 4 on CraigsList for $60). I also did a marathon brew day and got 4 batches in the "pipeline". Right now, we're...
Yeah, that happens. Try that U729. I just added it to my wishlist (even though I ordered some stuff from JBPrince yesterday).
Would love to hear how it works out.
Sarah.
I have heard that no, they aren't so good. The glass is weaker on the threads and can't hold the cap. Also, IME Stella bottles don't cap so easy either.
Hope it works out,
Sarah.
What about the thermometers "dies"?? Taylors are usually pretty good--as long as you don't drop them. They're able to be calibrated. Maybe try that??

This is my favorite kitchen "toys" website. Digital therm. U729 looks like it...
+1 ^^
I put a couple gallons in the fridge to chill the top off water. To save $$ I use my tap (with Pur filter) for the boil and bottled for the top off.
It took a while for my range to get to a boil.
Also, for cooling down the wort (without an IC) I freeze reused water/soda bottles then...
I LOVE it!!
We bought an old Hotpoint (circa 1960) at a Thrift store. The plan was that it would "run warm" and be a perfect lagering fridge. (Un)fortunately it runs perfect! Better than the one in the kitchen...you know the one that is supposed to hold "food".
Anyway, its a great...
