    Ginger Ale (kegged)

I'm trying so hard to clear out a stout so I can fill a keg with ginger ale, and this thread is just... freakin' ... lovely. When I've done ginger ales in two-liter bottles, I've always added a dash of vanilla extract and it's been a nice, mellowing influence. Any thoughts on adding something...

    Wort Chiller Repair Questions

Hi, all. My immersion chiller recently sprung a leak (more like a "spray") from the chiller end of the standard hose attachments. This is my first chiller, and I have zero savvy when it comes to repairs of this nature and no proper equipment (besides maybe a hacksaw) to address the...

Is there a "best" amount of time to primary ferment?

Mmmm... raspberry wheat beer. Yes, please. I always heard it was best to use a secondary fermentation with fruit since the flavors might get scrubbed out. But if it's already in there... que sera sera.

Is there a "best" amount of time to primary ferment?

Who made the kit? And are they in the five-gallon carboy business, too? I've been reading these forums for years, and if there's a general "rule" I've gleaned, your beer should spend at least one week in the primary fermenter. The "This vs. That" thread in the beginners forum has a nice...

    Can kegs mitigate gusher issues?

Gushers in bottles are disappointing, but with patience, you can still drink some semi-decent beer. What about if I seem to have one in a keg? If I'm able to leave it in the fridge, take it off the CO2 tank, then "burp" it for a few days before re-attaching at serving pressure, can I...

    Can anyone identify this?

Many thanks for the reassurance. I've seen my share of rafts, but I'd never seen anything that looked like... well ... that looked like the above. Glad to know that yeast can ride again in a few days.

    Can anyone identify this?

I've done my fair share of batches, but I've never seen this. This was a blonde ale, mostly 2-row with a touch of biscuit. U.S. Safale 05 did the dirty work in a root cellar for three weeks at between 60-65 degrees. This was the first time I used Whirfloc, since I usually do brown ales and...

    AB Super Bowl Ad

I can see both sides here. AB created a kind of craft-brew strawman and made fun of it. And... insamuch as those beer-snob stereotypes actually exist, I tend to agree with their assessment. The great news is I don't have to buy beechwood-aged cat urine or Quintuple-Hopped, Imperial Siamese...
