    india pale ale extract kit

    hmm I really liked my american wheat kit from NB that I used us-05 for. I'm a complete noob though, so maybe next time I flip the extra bucks for the liquid. What can I expect to be different taste wise with the liquid wyeast 1010? The reason I did dry is, I was researching a beer that is...

    infected yeast starter? pic inside

    nice, I wasn't around when it went to the fridge, so it could just be the krausen was still up when it was crashed. I wasn't sure if I should decant with that much yeast on top if it's not an infection or just pitch the whole thing. So I ended up just putting it back in the fridge. So now...

    http://picasaweb.google.com/108080099560455334576/Misc#5517503395485761890 I made this starter for my pops last week for his 10.73 belgian tripel extract brew. It was a smack pack and everything went fine except I boiled too long and lost more liquid then expected. So my OG was prob a...

    too much dme in starter?

    I did lose a liter or close to it, which was crazy in my mind too! I think it's because I was using a large pot, which made for more surface area, and in turn more evaporation. I know I had over 2 liters of water though at the start and only meant to boil for 15 minutes, instead of the 20-25...

    too much dme in starter?

    I had a couple minutes yesterday to make a yeast starter for my pops. I started with 2500ml of water and 200g of dme for my boil. I boiled for 20 minutes or so. After cooling, I realized that I had only about 1.5 liter's of wort or 1500ml. I was out of time and didn't have my hydrometer...

    Cooling partial boil with cold water

    around 100F depending on the temp of your cool water. Just make sure you're below 80F before pitching. I boil 3 gallons, bottle up 2 gallons and put in freezer. I usually add it to my wort after 5 minutes in the ice bath when it's around 120F. I can cool my wort to under 80F in under 15...

    NB American Wheat ++

    I think I'm going to brew sierra madre and caribou slobber this weekend and bottle my ipa, glorious! I had no issues fermenting in a bucket, the krausen was no bigger then others I've brewed in the past, prob 2 inches or so. Let me know how your batches turn out.

    NB American Wheat ++

    nope, used dry yeast too. I was interested in finding a cheap, quick, and tasty beer. I must say this delivered for me. I did drink it with a orange pretty consistantly which was great. I noticed that the beer had a natural fruity taste that I liked 1 week after bottle that faded with...

    Going to Annapolis, MD....

    Tried some heavy seas pale pale last night at slyfox, it was really good. It seem slightly under hopped to me, but it was still a really nice smooth english pale ale.
